.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

No, he saw the snake on our way to pick up the hog. He wanted to shoot it. Probably should have let him. I held his head down and cut it off with my pocket knife. He thought it was pretty so it made it into the picture.
Dang, was ready to change the thread's title:

".223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, moose and copperhead"

So I would really like to jump on this bandwagon but if I already have a 22 creed what is the benefit of a 223? Ammo availability and cost? Is there something else?

Basicly real cheap to shoot and the ability to run factory ammo ..I have both a 223 ai and a 22 creedmore. The 22 creed sees alot more use the 223 ai will most likly be sold and the money out twords a sub 8# 28 nosler build.

And barrel life. A 22CM gives you probably 1500 rounds, .223 is 10x that.

Would an 8 twist 22-250 have a similar round count on its barrel? Or slightly more?
Well depends on how your shooting it but I'm willing to bet even my 22 cm gets closer to 1800-2k i only shoot 2-3 round strings and im also keeping loads on the " non internet legend" side. The 22 250 will will get about another 250-300 on top of that my buddies 22 250 ai has 850 on it and it's still looking great

A couple more “firsts” for kids:
62gr TTSX, both 50ish yards

The TTSX does not make soup of vitals, but it kills well enough in this application. Small exits, no blood trails. Both animals ran about 20 yards before dropping.

My 10 year old shot the Corsican through the heart, taking the top of it and the major vessels off.

Eurooptic has multiple 223 Tikka T3x models on sale for $649 right now including the compact. Everyone on Rokslide who has kids should jump on that. It’s a great investment in your kids future. If you don’t have kids, buy one for your wife or buy one for yourself. You won’t regret it.

but what were your thoughts on the 60g partition in terms of expansion and penetration vs the TMK @Formidilosus ?

They penetrate fine and open up fine- though nowhere near to the level of a TMK. The Partition issue is that when the front half fragments, the back half even if it exits leaves a very small exit hole. So you end up giving up more tissue damage and a wider wound, for a tiny exit hole (maybe), which generally doesn’t bleed much anyways.

Mature WT at 290 yards. .223 Rem, LVR, 75gr ELD-M. Three to the shoulder (at last light and I had a good “mark” on him, so I needed him dead quickly.) First one would have killed him easily. Dead in under 15 seconds from first shot - less than 5 yards traveled. No “autopsy” photos, but his shoulders were wrecked!

Daughter’s old buck at 121 yards. Howa .223 Rem, H335, 65gr SGK. Bullet can be seen [bulging] under the skin behind the shoulder. Entrance was same elevation, opposite side, front edge of the shoulder. Buck crumpled immediately and kicked a few seconds before dying. She has quite a number of dead bucks and pigs with this same combo… same results.
