Anyone hunting with a sbr? I've got a 12.5. Thinking it'd be perfect for deer with some TMKs. 1-6 on it would make it a handy road hunting gun.
I used 12.5 AR chambered in 556 shooting 77 TMKs with a suppressor and NF 1-8. Used it for the kids and it worked fine, also had a 10.5 300 BLK that I used when calling bears in for other hunters and my son shot his first buck with that rifle.

I have switched to a 16" 6 ARC so they can kill elk with the same rifle they hunt deer with. Also a lot of fun on rock chucks out to 300 yards haha

What bullets were you shooting out of the 300 blk?

110 TSX I believe. That was years ago and I only shoot 300 BLK for fun these days. I take my 12.5" AR15 in 223 when calling bears. I've been really convinced that smaller bullets, of the correct construction at the right velocity are all that is needed.

alright, I'm in the club. Anyone have an inside track to tom 77 grain tmks? I can reload down the road, but I wanna get the gun going.

You an PM me if you don't want it to be public. Not gonna order thousands of rounds

Either gonna use this 223 or a 243 w/ 95 gr sst's for pigs this winter.

I killed pigs with a 223 once before, but was using deer season ballistic ammo and wasn't pleased with the performance.

I know there are pig pics on here, but don't know how to dig thru to see them. Can anyone share them?

I dont keep a ton of pictures but ive killed a truck load with each of those bullets. you'll be fine with either. i prefer the 77

@Choupique 's tip on the CMP ammo is a good price, hadn't seen that loading before. You might also PM @h2so4 on his prices on loaded 77TMKs from Black Hills or Bone Frog.

I won’t be changing bullets anytime soon but just curious if anyone has tried the 80gr eldm or x in a 8 twist 223 yet. I thought they might be fun for some long range targets and maybe do some hunting with them

I bought some but havent shot it yet. Its listed at 2700 fps so maybe a little slow. Should get to shoot a few this weekend.

I like that the black hills stuff is nearly a spot on match for the QD "Average Gun" calculation. The 75 gr sabre that I use for practice is "bad gun" which I dont like the mismatch. - But I have a ton of it so.......... This stuff looks like it would match my sabres - so while I dont like it being slower it would make practice match hunting which is interesting at least.

As a side note, CMP is great to do business with and I always check there for ammo deals

HOWEVER, they will only ship ammo or guns with adult signature required so it can cause some delivery headaches. I have it shipped to my work so it isn't a problem but it's something to keep in mind.
