.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Is the accuracy better? I have not been super impressed with my daughters tikka 223 accuracy as of yet. It’s not terrible but it’s not what I personally prefer.

Interesting. I have had really good results out of my Tikka 223 with 75 Black Sabres, 73 ELDM, and Black hills 77 TMK. Most variable has been the ELDMs but all have been good.

My experience has been that the 77 TMKs certainly do not shoot as well as the 55 gr Blitzkings.

77 TMKs shot okay for me with Xbr, but when I switched to staball match they shot really well. 25 gr of staball match with starline brass at 2.265.

Shot 5 factory loads through it with 10 shot groups. Best it could muster was 1.2ish inches with black hills 77tmk. Not terrible but also not stellar. I’m a self described accuracy snob so there’s that also lol.

Ok gotcha, I follow now. My 10 shot groups are generally right in that range but a 1.2 10 shot (factoring in that part of it is me) is right on the money for me with factory ammo. I think generally black sabres were coming in a bit under that (despite more velocity variabity) ELDMs were the worst generally being more like 1.3-1.4. I didnt write down what the black hills TMKs did but recall my impression being that they were just a touch better than black sabres but I am sure still slightly over 1moa.

I'd be pretty happy with 1.2 for 10 but yeah I guess it's always fun to chase better.
It’s sufficient for what my daughter will be doing with it but if it were my rifle it would have a new barrel already lol. I have a couple rifles that print sub 1 inch 10 shot groups which is where I generally would like to be.

Again, for her, it’s fine.

73 eldm worked as advertised at 40 yards. Bang flop. Fist sized wound between the 2 tiny holes in the hide. Good first kill for the lefty 223 tikka

9th data point, public land mountain buck with 223 gasser shooting 75gr Speer gold dots. 60-80 yard frontal shot. Poi was slightly right of center midway up

He reared back, mule kicked, ran about 20 yards, and crashed into a root ball so hard a root shaved off a patch of hair the size of my hands. Died within 3 seconds.

No autopsy pics but i did inspect. Top half of heart and the top half of both lungs were jellified. Chest cavity looked like vital tissue gulash.

My camp buddy commented how lucky i was he didn't end up in the next county over, and i really should hunt with at least get a 30 caliber. What do you guys think? Grin.

My tikka roughtech ember 30-06 is listed for sale now if anyone's interested!
