56 as fifty six!?Regardless of what bullet you use in .223 the possibility of a blood trail is very random, but less likely with the 77TMK. There is no .223 bullet that Ive used (most of the bullets mentioned in this thread and more) that will reliably leave a good blood trail. Ive shot 56 deer this year and only a few would have been trackable through a blood trail. If the bullet is too hard you get a small exit and no blood, and if too soft no exit and no blood. The best for blood (but not necessarily killing) have been mid weight lead tip like 62grn Norma (very similar to 62 grn Sierra Game King) and 60 grn Hammers (driven very fast).
Final tally was 74 deer for the year. 12 so far this year. Majority with .223. Most of the deer go to a couple of charities, but I do keep the back steaks for ourselves and friends.56 as fifty six!?
My man, I'm jealous. Imagine all them backstraps![]()
That's some good info on that bullet. The best 223 bullet for penetration I have ever seen was the nosler 64 gr trophy bonded bear claw out of the FBI duty load. It is barrier blind and just keeps going.
It looks like a little hard cast 45-70 the way it penetrates everything and never turns right or left.
I would shoot elk with it no problem.
Drops are basically only verified by you in your gun. Barrels differ, and muzzle velocity is the baseline. You can get pretty close by shooting at various distances, plugging the info in an app to fill in the blanks.Does anyone have a verified BC from drops out to 600 for the Hornady 75 bthp w cannelure?
Not asking for drops. Asking for a verified BC as a starting point. The BC AAC lists is 3.98, which is actually Hornady's 75 bthp match (no cannelure). Tech on the phone told me there wouldn't be much difference.Drops are basically only verified by you in your gun. Barrels differ, and muzzle velocity is the baseline. It’d be interesting to see the same test without the bird seed, with real organic gel, and with a reasonable sample size. Tests like this are what you see from people who don’t understand the FBI protocols.Be interesting to see that same test with the 22 creed.
I agree - do it right and shoot at a reasonable hunting distance or it’s kind of a waste of time. You could through in some bones for an additional test for some flair. It’d be interesting to see the same test without the bird seed, with real organic gel, and with a reasonable sample size. Yeah that guy is a goober. It's wild that he has such a following. It’d be interesting to see the same test without the bird seed, with real organic gel, and with a reasonable sample size. Tests like this are what you see from people who don’t understand the FBI protocols.
Ya, that was a Federal load.I think you are talking about a different bullet. Nosler doesn’t make the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw bullet.

I used that in my pistol, seems to be OK all around. It's SLOW though, think box speed is like 2,200 fps if memory serves but maybe they're publishing that based off of SBR/pistol tests??? I didn't chrono it. We think we could actually see it with the naked eye shooting at night with bright lights. I figure the interlock should be great for pigs and such.Boys i tried the search function but I need help
Anybody used the hornady black 75 grain interlock (not BTHP) 5.56
I grabbed 3 boxes locally and it shoots lights out of my gun. Every bit as consistent as the 75 grain bthp blacl box, but curious as to performance. It is techincally the SBR stuff, but it appears to be shooting similar speed at 100,200 and 300 because I didn't have to correct for drop.
Curious to everybody's experience
If it sucks I'll just buy 73eldm and get off rhe internet
