How does the 73 grn ELDM compare to 77 TMK?
In terms of wound channel depth and tissue damage?

@KChunter71.
I used the 73 ELDM in my Tikka this year with no real noticeable difference between it and the 77 TMK. Total of 2 deer killed with the TMK and 2 with the ELDM.
This is whitetail from 17 to 125 yards.
If you’re going to shoot factory loads, I think the 73 ELDM would serve you well.

I will ETA that the ELDM have resulted in considerably better blood trails than the. TMK.

Have read this thread probably 5x. First post.

Average size KS nanny with an AAC 77 TMK. Unsure of twist rate but 10 rounds is minute of chew can at 100. No clue on muzzle velocity, shot was about 45/50 yards. Which was about as far as she ran too. No blood trail to speak of but low/gut entrance and no exit. Not too worried about it with one personal data point.

Quartering away shot so entrance busted 2 ribs. Bullet was caught under the skin on the exit side.

Usually bow hunt but have shot this rifle more over this year than any other centerfire combined in the last 5 years. Can foresee more of this in the future if I decide rifle hunt.

I’m putting a 1-8” barrel on my stainless T3 Lite .223 Rem specifically for shooting the 77 TMK. I have Varget and Benchmark. I’d like to get at least 2850 mv.

Anyone have a good recipe? I have aftermarket mags so I can load loooong.

I’m guessing this is the barrel you bought from me? If so, these are the most applicable notes I could find. Varget would need to be quite compressed to get you to those velocities if it could at all.

Took my 9 yr old grandson out yesterday afternoon, wrestling has taken over his Saturdays. He wanted to shoot anything, so when this little fawn slipped under the fence onto our property, we snuck up to 120 yards and he dropped her. She was broadside and he hit her in the back 1/3 of the rib cage. Had a caliber size entrance and no exit. The bullet took a left turn and ended up in the stomach, so I didn't look for it. 77gr TMK at 2700 MV.

Definately the smallest deer I have ever let someone shoot, but not sure if I will be able to get him out again this year.12-9-24 245.JPG12-9-24 246.JPG12-9-24 253.JPG
