Can those crimps be removed with s chamfer tool? I've heard it can be, and tried on 308 but I think that pocket might be too large, maybe it will work on .223?

I bought the little bit that goes in my Lyman case prep tool. Super easy. You could probably just put it in a drill also.Screenshot_20230802_155204_Amazon Shopping.jpg
I was referring to this, not a hand tool. My bad

I have the Lyman prep tool, I did 20 pieces of brass by hand and called it quits.
Now I use the reamer in a drill and I'll hoon through 100 or so pieces

Anyone running 5.56 ammo through a .223 bolt gun?

Good deals on loaded 5.56 77 TMKs right now, guessing no biggie on a bolt gun but wanted to hear some first hand opinions.

Pretty much every chamber cut today whether the barrel is marked 223 or 5.56 is a Wylde chamber. It shoots anything.

The AAC ammo shoots like ass compared to others. Both the SMK and TMK was 1.5-2.5MOA in both my DMR rifle and custom 223 that shoots 1/2-3/4 MOA or better with other factory match ammo.

Dang, hoping it does better in a Tikka!

I’m using the rest to break in my new T3X SS Lite. I’ve only shot 40 rounds through it so far but it’s equally terrible out of it. I wasted my money and wouldn’t suggest others do, but if you want to, go for it.

A Tikka, a Larue match, and a custom with a Proof CF all shoot it like crap.

Dang haha I ordered 5 boxes earlier after the first response. Fingers crossed! What kind of groups you seeing with the Tikka?

There was nothing under 2" for 5 shot groups. I'm going back to the range tomorrow and shooting some Norma 77gr SMK, Berger 77gr OTM, Federal LE 55gr SGK, and Federal LE 77gr TMK that has shot well in the my other rifles to get a baseline with those.

Out of quite a few Tikkas, AAC TMK and 77gr SMK’s have averaged between 1.5 to 2 MOA for multiple ten round groups.

Brutal! Appreciate the intel

I’m not discounting that others may have seen issues, as I haven’t seen thousands and thousands of rounds of it through dozens of rifles. I am just saying what I have seen.

After re-reading your post, seeing those were 1.5-2" TEN shot groups, I feel better. Should be more than enough for a 400 yard deer gun.

3,000fps MV. Though I would get it rechambered to 22CM from the start, and no/ no issues.
I probably should… In your opinion, if starting from scratch and buying another tikka to turn into a 22CM, would it be better to just rebarrel? Do I really leave anything on the table by rechambering a 1:8 .22-250?

I have yet to shoot it because I am waiting on a suppressor, but I had a 1/8" .223 barrel rechambered to 22 Creedmoor after reading various posts from @Formidilosus. It sounds like multiple individuals in his group have rechambered the 1/8's without issue.

No, the 1-8” is fine for anything up to the 88gr ELD-M. What I am seeing is that the 75gr, 80gr, and 88gr ELD-M, as well as the 80gr ELD-X, and the 77gr TMK are all good at those speeds, and kill fine. My preference from a wound perspective is still the 77gr TMK currently.
