Had I fully read your previous post I would not have provided my wishy-washy review since I lack any rimfire can comparisons.

It's all good. Not like you're the first guy ever with unrealistic expectations. Just shoot SV and subs. It's not like you gain a fricking thing with HV. Especially at distance.....

I feel like it should be better, BUT I have no other 22lr can to compare it to shooting supers out of my t1x

Maybe supers are just loud with all rimfire cans. I could shoot it with my ultra7 can on it to compare I guess.

Shooting subs it is hollywood quiet as expected.

Definitely use subsonic ammo, but I don’t know why someone would automatically pick the OCL over some of the alternatives. It is nice and small.

The OCL Titanium has the advantage of being really light compared with the alternatives. That's its strong point. The cost is close enough to be a push.

The DD Road Hunter is quieter enough to be heard with the naked ear (we can usually tell 2 db differences in sound), half an ounce heavier, and $20 cheaper. The cost may not be worth even considering, but 1/2 ounce for more suppression (you know, the whole purpose of the suppressor) makes sense to me.

Edit - I have nothing against OCL or the OCL Titanium. When I look at the objective measurements, I just don't see it as a clear winner.

While i appreciate pewscience and the silencer summit data, I honestly trust personal, qualitative comparisons like Huntsman's more.

No offense to Huntsman, but “why?” You would trust a subjective experience over objective data? Do you even RokSlide, bro?

And not all rimfire cans are the “same when you are talking about subs.” Some are measurably better in several ways than others.

Availability is a huge factor. Sometimes that is the driving factor. I have to drive an hour each way to even look at a decent suppressor, so I might as well order them. But there are definitely great suppressors out there I have not tried because they weren't in stock when I was in the market for them and I don't have enough money to buy and try them all.

As far as subjective comparisons are concerned, having seven different ones to compare with each other is huge! That's way more than most people - who often only have one and who have a vested interest in validating their own decision - will ever have to compare.

There are a lot of decent suppressors out there. To me, it is always important not to get hung up on one number. The "best" choice for me is one that is very strong on the "main thing" - suppression rating - and strikes a good balance on the other objective factors. I haven't even factored in durability (e.g., some of these suppressors have been tested with 5.56 and others are full auto rated with 5.7x28).

On the objective scale, that ECCO Ocelot Micro looks interesting as hell, but even the manufacturer's ad copy says it has First Round Pop (and this is backed up by looking at the TBAC Summit graphs). Whether it is loud enough FRP to make a difference or not is another matter.



I like to spreadsheet these things to try to filter out some of the brand name bias or "has a better/worse sounding name" bias.

These are the kinds of objective factors that don't come up from the TBAC Summit reports, so I, for one, appreciate you sharing them. Can you explain why the "fully shielded baffles" thing matters?

On the other hand, Form has apparently never cleaned his rimfire can after 10,000 rounds and the US/UM Gnat rimfire suppressor apparently won't be designed to be taken apart and cleaned. The roadmap says it will be 3-4 ounces, 5.5" long, and 1" in diameter. Depending on price and suppression rating, it could be quite competitive.
