Monday 2/23 weigh in— 198

Down a pound, felt like I would’ve stayed the same or gained. Not a great week of eating, but we move on

I did a major weight shed last year doing strict carnivore and 5-6 day a week workouts. I would much rather do outdoor workouts so I've only been doing about 2 days a week indoors to maintain some fitness. Will get back on outdoor workouts in the next week or two and back to carnivore. My body likes carnivore and I can drop 4 lbs +/- a week if needed. Freezer is full of NY strips, bighorn sheep and some non confinement pork. Yummy.

Good luck with your weight loss adventure.

Starting this myself, got a little too heavy the last few years and have my first backcountry trip planned this fall since 2023. I'd really like to be under 190 by September!

3/9/26 - 216.2

Weekly weigh in:

3/15/26 - 232.3 - Down 40.7 pounds since 12/20/25.

I feel like I haven’t been drinking enough water the last couple weeks. Muscles are tight - always on the verge of cramping.

Still have another 32.3 pounds to go by June 1st to hit my goal…🙄🫡

You are killing brother, your discipline and consistency is incredible!! How many days are u working out? How has your sleep been? I had similar problems for a while and was drinking plenty of water. I ended up finding out I was exercising too much and my sleep was ok at best. It changed dramatically when I started getting more sleep! Glad to see the positive results week after week👊🏻

Well my story is I’m a baseball guy - coach at the Varsity HS Level at the largest school in the state - so after my day job is over around 2:30 each day, I head to the High school and am involved with that till usually 6. Then my son, who is a college committed player, I stick around and work extra with him. So for 6 days a week I’m running around the baseball field, throwing hours of BP, and other physical activity. So I don’t actually go to the gym a lot right now. Usually I will lift with my son one -two days during the week awhen he is going heavy and needs spots, and then a day on the weekend - but that usually cardio/pushups/etc….when Its my turn in the coaching rotation to throw BP, it’s usually 5-6 rounds of 6…for 18 players. It’s a lot of throwing for around 45 minutes and I’m usually a sweaty mess. No idea how many calories are being burned but I have to guess at least and extra 6-800.

Sleep is been good - usually out by 11 and up around 6:30.

Biggest thing has just been calorie consumption. I am probably a bit too low but have been hovering around 1500-1700 a day.

Here is my story. High blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes is hereditary in my family. I am on medication for the blood pressure and cholesterol.

Have done upper body weight lifting/150 minutes a week jogging since my mid 20's. Would get burned out and stop for a year or two. Never ate healthy so the lowest my weight ever got was around ~230lbs. Stopped working out completely from the end of 2019 and in September 2021 my body weight was 277lbs and my fasting blood glucose was 121. Pre-diabetic. 126 after 2 separate tests with an A1C of 5.7 a doctor will classify an individual as a full blown diabetic. Not to mention I looked pregnant for twins.

This is when I decided to to begin multiple changes in my eating habits and exercise routines.

I restarted jogging 3 miles/30minutes a day for 5 days to get my 150 minutes of cardio in a 1 week period. Restarted upper body weight lifting. And this time added abdominal exercises to strengthen my core, leg exercises and completely cut out eating processed foods with bad carbohydrates.

No longer eat white rice. When I do eat rice it is brown rice which has a lower glycemic index. No longer eat white bread. When I do eat bread it is whole grain breads with a lower glycemic index. I follow a low carbohydrate diet high in proteins. I drink Naked Whey protein shake after every exercise.

At the end of the year of 2024, I started have extreme pain in my right knee. Went and had an MRI done on my knee and the results showed the cartilage in my knee was busted up. Knee doctor said this was very common side affect of running/jogging often. Doctor said it was very common in athletic runners. My response was I sure wish I would have known of this earlier because I would have incorporated a different style of cardio!!!!

After I left his office I have not jogged/ran again. I now do my weight lifting and abdominal exercises at a faster pace to where I can feel my heartbeats increase to use as cardio as directed by my doctor.

My breakdown on my exercises are as follows:

Day 1 - 2 hours of upper body weight lifting targeting two different muscles groups with 3 reps of each and 5 minute rests between. So in my 2 hours in the gym I do chest, back, traps, biceps, triceps and shoulder weight lifting.

Day 2 - 1 hour of multiple abdominal exercises 3 reps of each with 30 seconds of rest between each.

Day 3 - 1.5 hour of leg weight lifting targeting two different muscle groups with 3 reps of each and 5 minute rests between each. So in my 1.5hr in the gym I do back quads, hamstrings, glutes and calves.

Day 4 - Repeat of Day 1.

Day 5 - Repeat of Day 2.

Day 6 - Repeat of Day 3.

Day 7 - Rest.

Current status 6ft 5in 215lb 51 years old male with 20% body fat. and 25.7 BMI I do my blood work twice a year, and my glucose average in the 70's, my A1C averages 5.3 and my blood pressure and cholesterol levels have both lowered significantly.

My overall strength is not near what is was in my mid 20's, but I can still drag and load a 200lb deer by myself...

Sounds like u don’t need to exercise much on that schedule 😁 I love the story, I’m a baseball fan and a bit jealous👊🏻 calories are in the right range I thought for weight loss at the rate u need to hit your target and sleep is average if u r getting at least 7 hrs a night. Hopefully more water helps with the cramping muscles. I love watching your thread as it helps keep me be more accountable, keep it up, can’t wait for next weeks update👍🏻

Not that you'd ever need it since you're clearly doing a phenomenal job on your own, but happy help if you ever get stuck and can't figure out why- or just grab a coffee- since you're a local guy. Keep up the great work. I can only imagine the number of folks you're inspiring through your own efforts on the forum.
