2025 Cold Bore Challenge Q&A Thread

I'm going to try and fit this in before work since it gets light early enough right now. Every time I go to the range at lunch it's busy. I also have a spot by my house I need to check out to see if I can shoot there.

maybe.

@Jskaanland what can you see. A few Members are having this issue.
Thanks! The symptom is, you go to "attach" an image and it loads in with the little progress bar very quickly. Then just a blank white image with the file name becomes "attached" with no option to "insert".

The issue persists in any thread I try, as well as PM's, both on PC and iPhone.

Well folks I am in for all 4 shots, you can check it out here https://rokslide.com/forums/threads/2025-cold-bore-challenge.408693/post-4205405

I posted this in my posts there but figured I would copy it over here...

This is such a fun and frustrating challenge for me every year. It absolutely kills me to only shoot one shot over the course of 4 days, but it is an excellent reset for me. It's also a fantastic simulation of a hunting trip where you can wait a week or two and not get to shoot at an animal.

Since you know you only have one chance, and it is on video, I did find my adrenalin pumping a bit during the shots as if I was shooting at a target animal. This is a great way to kickoff a fun summer of shooting, scouting, and getting outside despite the 110+ degree temps!

Thanks very much to @robby denning @Ryan Avery @Justin Crossley and @realunlucky for hosting this event. Thanks a bunch to @Formidilosus for finally getting me to use equipment that doesn't fail in the field easily the last few years. If ya'll could have seen some of the "trails" and "roads" I had to take to get to these shots, you would 100% guess the scope and gun were not zeroed anymore bouncing in the back seat of the Jeep. Not to mention the minor bumps and scrapes the gear takes hiking/climbing steep mountains, crossing canyons, and traversing the desert to set targets and to get to shooting spots.

Thanks a ton to all the sponsors who make this happen, and good luck over the next few weeks to everyone who makes it out to shoot!

Definitely impressed with the shooting skill and also capabilities of the 22 Creedmoor

I'm logging and planning to process all the data just like last year. So far I have 60 shooters, 59/93 shots for a 63% hit rate at an average range of 565yds.

And @mxgsfmdpx is a freak going 4/4 with difficult positions, winds, and the longest shot of the challenge by far. Kudos!
thanks for doing this...it's so interesting.

for the compound shooters in cold bow this year, it was 60% vital hit rate, trads were 67%

Is there a date when you’ll take the last shooter? Out of town and hoping to get in this weekend if the 100s not hit yet

I got my daughter to do it. I said do you want to do 400 yards? She said no I want to do 600. She cracks
Me up. Sitting off tripod just hits the target No big deal. Haha
That was awesome!

I was texting a buddy troubleshooting my miss when that was posted. Had to say, "dang, an 11 year old just out shot me!" haha

Boy, that is flat impressive shooting…in particular the varied and extreme distances from different field positions!
Makes me want to get out and keep working at getting better.
Well done!

I am impressed - very nice shooting! Definitely makes me want to get out and do even more of this realistic hunting terrain practice and challenge myself in terms of positions and distances!

Absolutely! Most weeks I am out 4-5 mornings and/or evenings in the field doing this very thing. I am very lucky to have mountains/canyons and farm fields in my backyard or just a short drive away.
