Haven't seen the Bugle Report thread which I always enjoy following each year. So I can officially say they are NOT bugling in Tennessee. Hope they are bugling in Wyoming next week though!

One bugle above timberline morning of the 29th. Hiked around before season hour before daylight to hour after daylight just listening and haven't heard anything more yet.

I've heard bulls bugling all week in Montana. We are one week out and it seems pretty par for the coarse nothing to serious yet. They are all hard horned and I'm starting to see rubs and bulls leaving they're summer areas to find cows.

Spent last two days in one of the panhandle units and didn’t hear any bugling as of yet.

Last week in w. Wa heard 5-6 different bills bugling back and forth, but that was also behind gates that don’t get much hunter pressure

Had 3-4 different bulls going openin morning. It’s hot in my part off Idaho they were done by 930. This morning a decent 6 came in with 2 cows caught me bit off guard as I was working a different fired up bull. He stopped broadside at 52 I dialed and started to draw before he spun out. Temps will drop towards the end of next week I’ld expect it to really pick up.

Bulls were popping off in the Idaho panhandle the last 3 nights. One of my favorite hunts has 3 camps, 4 other rigs and one guy camped in the road....all on a 400 acre basin in the Joe. I have seen 3 guys blow that thing out. I punted to plan B and was glad I did. Bulls were vocal for bit beginning and end and no other hunters in plan b.

I'm taking the 15th through the end of the month to get serious.

Still in summer cow/calf herds but bulls joined them. Was in herd of 50+ this morning with 6-8 different bulls bugling, glunking, panting, grunting. No cows seemingly in estrus just bulls starting to split cows.

Hunted Aug. 30-Sept 1st.

Heard one bugle each day. Not much rut activity.

Saw 60-70 elk total. One had antlers, just a small raghorn. I'll shoot anything legal, as its my second elk tag and I can chase bigger bulls in October.

Raghorn was still in velvet, I watched him get about half of it off of one antler. Would have went after him, but wind was terrible.

You mean bow hiking. And its only 1000 other hunters and myself up here.
Hopefully it was taken as a joke.
Completely meant that way.
My post was meant to imply that you were covered up in those units and wanted all the action to yourself. 😀

OTC Southern Colorado Sept 1. The day before the opener.

Some bugling. Other hunters heard nothing.

At dawn I saw a herd of over 50 elk, 6 bulls, 2 were 6x6, 2 smaller and 2 spikes in an open canyon bottom. One 6x6 chased some cows around and bugled some. I glassed three other herds with some bulls.

At dusk I saw another herd of about a dozen with a big 7x7 going nuts. Raking trees, tearing up the ground, chasing cows and bugling. It seems too early for the big boy to be in the herd. But the cows were clearly not ready for him. I also saw the big herd again, but they were in the trees this time.

Colorado opener Sept 2. I heard no bugling.

I didn't find the big 7x7 bull or the big herd. It doesn't seem they were spooked away. I'll search the areas I know the elk move to. I did glass two of the other herds with 2 bulls. They were small bulls but not spikes.

Scouted in Wyoming weekend of August 23rd and 24th and had 2 rag horns bugling at first light for 20 minutes or so and then 1 6x6 bugle 3 times in the evening. . . Was surprised given how early and warm it was
