2025 Blacktail Bucks

Hahaha I agree, i've always thought this, almost like a subspecies. Seems like a whole nother world from the literal temperate rainforest jungle of the PNW.

Nothing taking away from them, they and the country they roam are awesome in their own right, and they get big. Just very different from a lot Oregon, and all of Washington, BC and Alaska (of course 2/3rds of BC and up through Alaska are Sitka's).
They're definitely awesome in their own right, but just look so different from the one's we have farther north, and not just because they tend to be larger.

Yep, more Mulie like. So much open country too. They seem to have longer tine length overall larger racks but with less mass, usually more spindly it seems. Lighter coloured racks. Where as rainforest Blacktail tend to be more compact and knarly in the rack, heavier, red/orange tinged or just very dark antlers. More pronounced white muzzle and distinct face/colour.

Rattled in and shot this guy at 30 yards from a treestand. Coastal buck
