2025 Blacktail Bucks

This was my 2025 buck in NorCal. Had been on a cold streak, so it was nice not eating tag soup this year. Second to last day of the season.

Yep! My son used the same rifle the week prior to get his first buck, he had just killed a few does and a bear prior. I couldn't find the magazine to my rifle fist thing in the morning, so I took his. (Bonehead moment) Model 70 FW .243

Well seems as though that rifle has a bit of luck to attached to it, that’s a handful of critters in one season. Congrats to your boy!

Here's a better look at the stock. Unfortunately, I've lost the tips on some of the grass, but I've had it for 30+ years, and it's been on a lot of hunts.

Figured I'd fire up a thread for blacktail hunters to share bucks!

Check this deer out. Shot him on August 7th. We were out of SEAK, and I am so curious if he's a young fella that was real heavy or old dude that didn't grow well. I pulled teeth so we can all find out in a few months.

Good look to all the rest of the blacktail hunters out there. This was my first trip, but I could definitely see more blacktail hunting in my future!
