2025 Arizona Elk and Pronghorn draw just opened

Got REALLY lucky and drew another late rifle tag in AZ, after drawing last year too. Hunted 8 last year and got my first taste of elk tag soup. Pumped about getting my redemption opportunity so quick. Drew 7W this go around.

Good luck out there man. A season's worth of experience goes a long way. Keep pushing and you'll get one! If you aren't seeing elk in a particular area make sure to switch up the elevation/location and look for areas with fresher sign.

This is great advice and something that I was late to do last year. I spent half of the trip last year continuing to hit an area that just wasn't producing elk or sign. Finally loaded camp and got moved where things got better but ran out of time. I'm going to be much more mobile this go around.

What’s wrong with the peaks? This is what I applied for as well
Under pressure from the USFS the AZGFD agreed to aggressively cull the elk herd to allow for Aspen regrowth after the fires. Elk really like Aspen shoots. The reason for increased draw odds in these areas is due to lower odds of success due to lower numbers of elk.

Don't take that too negatively, people are still successful in there :)

Understood. Thanks for sharing this info! I currently only have 2pp and applied here just because it appeared to more of a high country hunt which I'm used to. I'll consider this in the coming years.
