The three consecutive draw cycles are 1. Mid Winter - elk/pronghorn, 2. Fall - deer/sheep/bison etc, and 3. Spring - turkey/javelina/bison etc. So that is one year for the 3-cycles. If you don't participate in two of the draw cycles, then that is your loss, it's not 3 draw cycles for elk/pronghorn.

It is confusing how they word it. So if you purchase at any point in the year, it will cover 3 consecutive cycles.

365 from 2-5-24 should be 2-5-25....or mabe i'm just dumb...i just know i bought on the last day last year so it would be good for this year. I dont know anything about setting an effective date. oh well whats another $160

You didn't buy it on the last day, the last day of the 2024 app period was Feb 6.

It's cool to save a few bucks but I put in for all species but bison, so three app periods.
Also it would not be worth the chance of screwing up and losing my loyalty points. But I do get trying to save money with the costs increasing across the west

Your license needs to be valid by the application deadline date. If you get drawn, you would just need to purchase your hunting license in order to be in compliance. Yes, your loyalty point remains as long as you apply or buy a bonus point every year.

yes, you can apply when the 2026 Elk draw opens, as the license is valid till Feb 3, which is next years deadline

Then what happens if I draw and don’t have a valid hunting license?

you buy a new one to hunt with but use the Deer deadline as the start date

as long as you continue to APPLY each year, per species, you will maintain the loyalty point on a species basis

Thanks, for some reason I thought at one time of your license was expired at the time of the draw you were automatically kicked out.
