Old dog squeezed one out for me today.

Give all your bird dogs a big ol extra pat on the head and an extra treat. Lost my old GSP girl a week and a half ago at the age of 11. Hadn’t been sick or anything, zero signs of slowing down except for some hearing loss. We let her out in the morning and when we went out back to call her in, found her dead on the porch.

If you’re hesitating on going out on a hunt with them, take em out. You just never know.

Very sorry. I love the breed. I lost my last one just over a year ago. I have had several, all great in their own way.

My favorite time of the year to hunt pheasant in Michigan…the small numbers of birds we have can be located if you know where to look…

a really old seasoned dog helps too.

Conditions were gross last weekend. Sloppy mud everywhere. The puppy was busting chukar, but she did find a couple of quail that held for her.

Spent five days around Christmas chasing birds. Great dog work. Had to remind myself that the dog reads off of me and I read off of her. She had some runners that went up WAY out of range and I started getting angry. Sat down and took break to calm down. Started working like a team after that and things went great. Really impressed me in the short stuff chasing huns. Working together with whistle sit and whoa and were able to get quite a few coveys up in range. My shooting on the other hand...

No pictures of birds today although we shot a couple and found a whole lot. Didn't pull the phone out until we put the puppy on the ground and shotguns up. Hunting costal SC was a new experience for us. We also ran into a couple of these little guys that made us snatch up the puppy and head outta town. Still not sure if someone dumped them or they were a wild clutch.
