I've been on some hunts with the family over the past week or so that have produced some deer. It seems like the cold the past couple days has really helped. We've always seen the rut start to get going around the 25th(where we are) and that seems to be happening this year as well. I haven't been trying to shoot one yet but I'll be hitting some 2020 burn areas at the end of the season after I get back from helping on a NE Oregon elk tag.

Congrats to everyone who's tagged out and good luck to those still hunting.

I waffled on whether or not to take this buck yesterday. He wasn't quite as big as I wanted but ultimately with my few hunting days left, I decided I would shoot him on the last day "Why not take him now?" Afterwards, I was very happy I did as he had a wound in his left front leg that looked like an unfortunately poor shot by another hunter. It was mostly crusted over but still looked painful although he didn't show it at all when we spotted. him.
