Had a line out last week and hit pretty well. Walked away with a fox, a coyote, and 5 coon.

Trapping is a thing here in Germany, but not on the kind of property I lease for hunting as it belongs to the forest service and they don't allow it.
Mostly due to altercations with non-hunters.

You can only trap fox, badger, weasels, pine Martin, stone Martins and raccoons (yes we have introduced raccoons). Raccoon dogs and golden jackals do not live in this area, and it is illegal to trap wolves.

I have thought about putting traps in my yard for Martens. But they can't be killing traps, they have to be live traps and you are limited on what kind of bait you can use. Most guys catch a lot of rats and stray cats.

Been warm, so guess what's been hitting up the bobcat traps?
Based on hair, looks like a missed a coyote in a bobcat trap too. Mink traps have done nothing...

Trapped a bunch of beaver this fall, including my biggest (52lbs) and smallest (sub 20), and snared my first fox last week! After finding a little sign, I put a few marten boxes out that haven’t produced yet.

We got a 5” dump of snow last night and I’m eager to get out this week for fresh intel and to hang more loops.

That fox is awesome, congratulations!! I'm putting my Marten boxes out right after Christmas this year. Had them out for a full week at elk camp with nothing doing.
Good luck on the line!

I have marten boxes out but I keep catching house cats. We have both pine and stone Martens in Germany.

Look into hole restriction, piece of wood with smaller round hole and restricts large animals from entering the trap.

Do you have much luck catching cats in box sets? Think about building boxes every year but never do.
Not a lot, but I'm a little new to the cat in a box trap too. I had a bobcat track in the snow right to the trap yesterday when I checked, and the trap was turned sideways, but not set off. Looked like it put a foot over the trap and pulled back, maybe trying to figure it out?
I've cut 2 other for sure bobcat tracks just in the last week in the area I'm trapping, so they're there. Also, I think can of tuna, or beaver meat are the 2 go to baits for these boxes, I've been agreeing around with other bait, but switching over after this weekend.

Yeah I would imagine you need something in there that they just can resist. A chunk of beaver or porcupine. Never used tuna for cats, not bobcats anyway lol

Didn’t realize there was a trapping section on here. Buddy and I limited out on otter early this season. Ran a pretty small line this fall, no fall wolf season in my area. Too many “endangered” grizzlies. After Christmas I’m going to running a long line for wolves and cats.
