Doesn’t get much better than watching your kids find success!!! That’s so cool, congrats to both of you!
Thanks!, it was crazy it worked out… I wanted to keep shots inside 70yds (shotgun and green hunter) we got within 100yds a few times this week including stalking in this morning, then went and sat in a blind for 7hrs (a lot to ask for a 14yr old girl) one spike, 63 cows, and patience paid off with a 40yd broadside shot. I’m proud of her, she did awesome… he went about 25yds and tipped over

I'll go first. This is the first elk I've killed. First day of the season, last light on public land in Montucky with my PSE Mach 34. I'm still on cloud nine after taking this old 6x7 brute as my first elk.

Halloween gave my wife a treat.
Opening weekend in Montana was warm for rifle, 2nd Saturday was in the negatives and lot of opportunities no comfortable shots for her. 2nd Sunday it warmed up(15 degrees) and the orange army was out in hoards. We jetted out last night around 3pm. Had 18 bulls by 5:45 feeding on a face. This bull and one other were the last to trickle out of the timber. With a great sneak stalk to close some distance and an awesome shot she took home the bull she wanted from Saturday. Photos of her first elk and another last load 1:25am, home by 3am, in meetings by 7:45am.
Tired, Halloween gave me a trick(last photo).
Congrats to her! Awesome bull!

First time I’ve been able to punch an elk tag on an out of state hunt. General tag, public land, and got really lucky to have this guy walk out in front of me at 150 yds at first light on day 3. Took 3 double lung shots before he finally dropped.

As they fell. . . Should have killed two cows the day before that would have required a lot of work packing, but a game and parks survey flight ran the herd about 1.5 miles off and got them all riled up.

As luck would have it, we tagged out the next day in a lull between 60mph winds! Best part, there was an old two track that we came across not 30 yards from where they fell making life really easy! Antlers are fun, but meat in the freezer is awesome and I was happy to have the opportunity to fill them this year.

Had a damn good elk season in Idaho this year I got my first archery elk which was also my first branch antlered bull. Called him into 12 yards, double lunged him and he went about 30 and stopped to my cow calls and tipped over. Then my wife (who is an elk killing machine) shot one during October so we're sitting on a full freezer this winter IMG_20230919_105536994_HDR.jpgIMG_20230919_171635782_HDR.jpgIMG_20231015_074043830.jpg

2023 Idaho bull. Marathon pack out but I wouldn't have wanted to share the pain with anybody else! I owe those fellas some misery and can't wait to repay with some sweat.
