I like it for making sausage, pepperoni, or salami. Stuff where ya want a higher fat content. Mixed with pork it makes for good stuff.

Where you finding a trapper nelson for $25 the cheapest one in decent shape I have found was $80, I plan on doing a bear in one as well

I have seen some people charging collectors rates but I'm pretty sure I paid $15 (with our monopoly money so basically like $3usd) for this one. Original trapper nelson circa 1930-45

Ya those guys know they'll get that from some interior decorator that wants a "woodsy" look for a client that's never spent a day in the backcountry but has a wicked beard/manbun combo...snowshoes are an extra hundred. Check craigslist and facebook market place on a regular basis, people find those in grandpas garage and figure they're trash.

Yeah, was curious as well about a 25$ Trapper Nelson, cause I paid about 100$ for mine and now that I want another, I can't seem to find one for less than 250$. They are great for mounting critters, I have a goat on one.

Guarantee I just cursed myself and next time I want to find one the going rate will be $500 plus GPS coordinates to a mule deer honey hole.

Finally getting around to posting this.. My first Black Bear ever. Last week of May. Still cant fully believe it all came together after hours of research and never even being in Montana until this trip - let alone seeing a black bear in the wild. We didn't see a track, scat or trace of a bear until this monster stepped out at 178 yards.... On the evening of day 5! After taking a minute to confirm it was a boar (which you guys would have known instantly im sure) I made a good shot from a comfortable rest with my 270. He went about 40 yards. After a long rainy night we finally made it back to the vehicle with hide, head, meat and gear at about 3am.. wet bears are heavy!

An absolutely unforgettable experience. With rain every day and camping off trail for the majority of the trip, it was tough to stay focused/motivated. The meat is fantastic and I can't wait to get the rug back.. Still in shock!

Backcountry Frank Church bear from this past weekend. Not a huge sow, but couldn't resist the beautiful blonde. Missed her at 760 yards, but was able to close the distance by dropping 700' vertical down the hill and have her walk straight into me at 15' in the buck brush. Long, hot, steep packout ensued, but well worth it.

Finished an otherwise slow season out pretty good. Took 3 bears in 3 days. A black and a cinnamon just over 6 feet, both pretty rubbed up but plenty of meat for sausage. Then one that squared at 6'7" with a nice hide. Also got my wife on her first cinnamon and as always every bear was taken while our daughter was with us.

First bear hunt and first hunt out west. Ended up hunting solo and found some nice guys that helped me break it down and get it out. I was in Montana and jumped a couple of units from where I started due to thick growth and not being able to glass much. I ended up pretty close to Bozeman.
