I loved mine, I owned it from 15 until last spring. Ran flawlessly. Oil changes, new battery and a set of plugs at 95k. No issues at all.
Mileage absolutely sucked. 17 mpg was the best I've ever got.
I had a 14’ with 33’s (e rated) and a winch bumper and usually got about 16mpg average. I have given up on good fuel mileage, I just got a new one, and with slightly bigger tires (basically 33’s) it gets similar fuel mileage, the only one I got decent mileage on was my 18’ which got close to 20mpg with e rated tires
Midsize pickups don’t get good fuel mileage, my zr2 got around 16 as well. Midsize pickups have been pretty much all I drive, and none have been fuel efficient… the gen 3 taco has been the best in that category
My current 24 taco seems to get the best fuel mileage in sport mode, which is kinda ironic. Putting heavy tires on them has a measurable impact on fuel economy, but I don’t have a choice, it’s either that or flats constantly
A couple years ago I ordered some e rated ko2’s for my zr2, got 2 flats the first month and was wondering what was up, double checked my tires and they messed up and ordered c rated. They did replace them for free at least
As for my 14’ taco trd off-road, it was a great pickup while I had it, it had about 140k when I traded it in and oil changes and tires were the only thing I had to do to it. All of my tacos have been great. My 98’ broke a leaf spring, but I think it was warrantied, besides that, I don’t think I’ve done anything but basic maintenance on any of them, and have never had one get me stranded… hopefully the gen 4 is same
