200 inch typical vs 200 inch nontypical

How rare is a hard horned 4 point that grosses over 200? How much rarer than a nontypical over 200, is a 200 inch typical comparable to 220 or 230 nontypical ?

I just looked up CO's boone and crockett entries.

They have 118 entries of 200"+ typicals.

They have 166 entries of 240"+ non typicals.


So just that quick comparison show's a 200" typical is more rare than a 240" non typical.

Give me a nontypical that looks like a big 4x4 typical but with droppers and lots of trash. I love my deer and women a little on the trashy side.

Yep, I would miss it standing broadside at 50 yards. Doesnt matter the weapon, I would miss.

If the deer was over 200" I would take most non-typicals over clean typicals. I dont care for the non-typicals that are just a clump of mass with points. My favorites are non-typicals with random cheaters and especially droppers. The buck in my avatar was standing next to a bigger clean typical when I shot him.

I like all big deer, don't care if they are typical or non-typical. if I was ever fortunate to have to choose between 240" non-typical or 200" typical it would come down to which ever one, I felt was the most appealing at the moment. I really like a big framed deer with some extra points for character though.

A 200" typical mule deer is comparable to at least a 260" nontypical mule deer, if not 280".

People talk all the time about so-called "200 inch" typical mule deer, but the fact of the matter is that 80% of mule deer hunters will NEVER see a bonafide 200" muley in their lifetimes. They're exceedingly rare.

Hell, a 180" mule deer is rare. Most mature mule deer bucks in the western United States, on average, will top out at 140-160 inches. That's the reality.
