IMHO it's one of it not the best youth calibers. Before my son was old/strong enough to archery hunt he took 2 good bulls and a good buck with his. 140GR Accubonds. I loved the gun so much I sold his youth model and just bought a new Tikka 7-08 for a CO deer hunt this fall
I don't disagree, I just did not see the option when I applied or I probably would have done so. With that said since you have the option to return the general tag if you don't draw the special permit, it does not make a lot of sense to require you purchase the bow license just to apply.
Hmm... I applied for an archery permit and did not see any box and was not required to buy a bow license. I went back and looked at my receipt and don't see anything about a bow license. Now I'm confused!
Thanks, now I'm actually leaning towards 21 2nd season solely because I can get my son an OTC elk tag to hunt with me at the same time. I'll probably spend the 1st 1/2 of the season trying to find him a bull then send him back to school in OR and start looking for a buck.
What most of you guys are missing is the nuggets are in the gravel! If you're using these services you're panning for gold with all the other folks in the tailings. Good luck with that. I'm looking to hunt where everyone on GoHunt is not!!!
I now live in WA and I don't hunt here. No interest in hunting the west side even tho I live in or close to some of the better hunting. East side is all draw for bulls or you can hunt spikes. I don't have any interest in hunting spikes. I will put in for a good east side archery bull tag until I...
It's time to burn my points and have pretty much narrowed it down to these 2 units. I know the 22 3rd "could" be better, but not sure it fits my hunting style. I'm a pretty die hard backcountry hunter that really hates hunting around a lot of folks and roads. I "think" I could have a lot more...
The whole moon thing cracks me up sometimes... I've killed some of my best bulls and had the best rutting action during the full moon. Sure, it may "change" things a bit as far as times of day goes, but it by no means makes the hunting worse. It's the last thing that concerns me. There is a...
I have a bunch of deer points I'm wanting to burn. Mostly an elk hunter, but it's time. I'm aware of the ranch issues in the unit. Just wondering if a guy who is willing to get as far in as he wants can expect something worth it with a 4th season tag?
Black Hoyt Faktor 30. 28" 60-70# Comes with brand new Ripcord rest that has been tuned and a Tight Spot quiver. Newer winners choice string.
This is my all-time favorite bow. It's taken some great bulls and been in both Western Hunter and Eastmans. I really hate to sell it. Smooth draw, quiet...
:) Right! Didn't think it was that relevant. To the original posters point, I think that the 0 point drop is easily attributed to a WY general tag not being worth $1300 after the increase!
Not sure what you're refering to. https://wgfd.wyo.gov/WGFD/media/content/PDF/Hunting/Drawing%20Odds/DRAW_ELK_PP_NONRESSP_2018.pdf scroll to the bottom
The column right before the % is the number of applicants for each point level. BTW there were a few higher up in points that I did not copy. I...
I'd say that's why they are shooting a lot of immature bulls. If you just want to shoot any bull then a lot of overcalling will get it done. If you're only looking for the bigger herd type bulls you have to have a few more tricks. Calling to locate being one skill of many. I watch, but that sort...
Wy has definitely been played out. I was lucky enough to get in on the ground floor when they started points. I hunted WY 5 times in 9 years. Some was when you could get a general as a 2nd choice. Also 3 LE tags that I can no longer draw. $1300 for general tag is certainly pushing it and as...
Don't think so. If you have less than 6 points you're pretty much SOL for any decent LE hunt anytime soon, unless you're willing to wait a decade. Guys in that range will never draw a top unit. I'm pretty sure many can see this and will be burning points in the <5 pool pretty quickly on general...
This is not really the case much anymore. Both BLM and Forest service they are NOT allowed on any non-motorized trails. Some states like MT did allow them for a while, but have now said they are NOT allowed on non-motorized trails on state lands. Private lands like timber company lands are all...
