    Does kuiu not make the guide beanie any more? That sounds like what it was. I find the 145 Merino one more than adequate and just wear the boonie or other hat over it for wind and sun protection or even rain.

    Arrow Saw

    Would be nice to have a vee notch on each end to rest see in. Butt the Fletch end against stop and in vee notch and other end in vee notch on top of cutter block centered on the cut off wheel with just enough wheel to cut through the wall thickness of shaft. Otherwise good idea and execution.

    Fact is I'm sure they ran over the hill about 60yds and stopped because I heard then take off again after 10 minutes. Thinking I should have gone to their exit point to keep eyes on at least, might have had another shot.

    I'm about ready to quit Archery, had nothing but bad luck it seems. The next day I went back in same area and walked up on elk at 20yds, stood and looked at me, a yearling cow, Spike, and 2.5yo cow and I just didn't shoot, or couldn't shoot I guess. Then they walked off.

    Didn't see any arrow sticking out off side, no blood spot either. Shoulder blade seems most likely. Either way if he's dead he's rotten by now, or he lived and no worries.

    Went in today and took another shot to check for deflection using my small game arrow, it flew straight and true and stick where the bull was standing. No deflection. Kinda frustrating.

    Take as many photos as possible and pick the best one. I think lots of photographers take about 500 clicks to get 10 really good ones.

    Bull elk, 42yds. Standing still and can only not see his rear quarter as the draw in shows. 90% clear between shooter and bull, only the tips of hemlock limbs at about 20yds partially blocking. No other elk interfering, a few to left about 10yds and 1 to right same distance.

    Like the Oregon guy said, good time to be hunting, but I think elk will be in reprod, 10-15' tall trees so no falling limbs or trees or along the edge of same to feed.
