Lost lease on land 1t years ago and as with life never got back until recently. I need new clothes a s I really dont wanna freeze. I'm in central bama. Will walk couple miles then into a stand or house. Dont need to break the bank but need a solid set up. What's the go to? Merino wool base and build from there or what I'd like t ok have a system. Also I need really good gloves and socks cause if my feet hands get super.cold I'm out lol

Walking a distance in if it is dry I would use non insulated/non gor-tex boots and something like icebreaker boot blankets for feet. You may need to change out socks when you get there if your socks are sweaty. Good head and neck coverage is very important also.

Bow or rifle? Depending on what zone you are in you are lucky enough to hunt to February but I am not sure how cold you get.

I think there is a lot to be said for Cabbelas type gear for stand hunting. It is reasonably priced and works great. It lacks some of the technology and lightweight of the backpack hunting gear but it fits very well for short walks and long sits. I have some berber fleece and a few other pieces that get used year after year and work fine.

If you want to go higher end, I am a big Sitka fan but I think their whitetail stuff is great for stand hunting and not much else. To my eye, their EV2 pattern is best suited for hard wood forrest after the leaves drop. Not sure how that translates to a deer. I hunt a lot of their subalpine gear in early season bow when there is still leaves on most of the trees. First lite stuff is great as well and the camo pattern and design are a bit more generalist IMO. I have used my Fusion gear for deer, turkey and duck.

FL or ice breaker base layer is a great start. FL Obsidian pants are quiet and versatile. I get a lot of use from a soft-shell jacket like a Sitka Jet Stream or FL Catalyst but there are quieter options. A good puffy coat or vest as an insulation piece makes a lot of sense too.

Rifle and seems like.first lite seems to be a solid choice at least base layer wise. Pants and jacket or coveralls?

I use their pants and jacket early season (corrugate pants and catalyst jacket). I add layers underneath until I have to switch to a bib and heavier jacket (picked up a set of their solitudes) later in the season for more static sits. I mainly hunt the north east so temps start in he 60-70 range now with bow opener 10/1 and will get to the 20s by the end of season in Dec / Jan. Your Alabama temps may not require those heavy layers.

last 2 years FL QC fell off the map. im not the only one on the forums that had multiple garments arrive in poor condtion (bad stitching, mildewed wool, etc)

id go to another option
