Btw- Ryan when do you and Sam get to start hunt bear in your neck of the woods?
And I think you, Sam, Aron and I need to place bets for bear killing maybe winners for longest and shortest shots?
Just flipping shit, hopefully the two of you get out and kill some decent bears before it gets serous...
No no no. Alan's hair is all over his face, this piticular creature has it all over its torso...but from a side profile I can see how you'd get confused, same physic.
I usually load up on a shit ton of teriyaki rice and chicken washed down with a monster rehab. Then I usually eat peanut butter M&M's and a naked juice on the dirt road to the trailhead.
It's the post hunt food that's really interesting- the worst in memory was when a buddy and I got back from...
I think the copper spur is durable (relative to other UL 3 seasons), I've used the fly creek and hated it. The fly creek isn't a real "free standing" tent, it's a bit shorter, and I wouldn't trust it anytime I feared any weather in the fall.
Tarps are a good option, but your OP said tent.
By far my favorite is the Big Agnus copper spur. It's long enough for anyone under 6' 4", big enough vestibule for a big pack and boots, and freestanding.
In a couple weeks we'll have an 85 mm ATX, a 65 mm ATX and and 80 mm HD STS side by side on the mountain. We should be able to give some really great comparisons.
Looks like fun, too bad I had to miss out on that part....had a great time though and the kids were quite entertaining in camp as well.
PS Aron was the biggest kid in the candy store around all those toys, I doubt you guys went home with much loaded ammo.
I used to use 168 Sierra match kings all the time. I shot several large bulls, mule deer and a couple of big black bears with them from distances ranging 100-500 yards. They did have a bit of inconsistency with penetration and deformation but NONE of that matters if the bullet goes when you want...
The biggest bulls are on the I-90 side. Unfortunately, they mostly live amoungst the private and ubtaining permission is extremely difficult. If you want a better experience, stay the course. IMO, hunting around that private takes alot of the fun out of the experience. All that said, we've...
It's a piece of cake, just go out with them a few times before actually hunting and you'll have it down. All the other details have basically been covered above.
Ryan, my brother-in-law owns an ammo company. He gets bulk shipments of anything I need, usually it take several weeks because of the shortages. But I'm sure I can get some if its not a super rush. How much do you want?
Nothing for me. I'm still pretty confident I'll turn up a great buck anyways. I do have a couple buddies with some real good elk tags so I'm sure I'll be busy chasing some biggins.
170+ in Washington (160+ if I arrow one in the velvet) and 180+ for Idaho OTC.
If I'm fortunate enough to draw a controlled hunt in either state I'd add 10 inches.
