When I was at the Kifaru NW Rondy, Tripple brought over his ATX and I had two long days of glassing behind it. I've looked at the ATX before, but nothing like this.

Anyway, I liked Tripple's enough (Cody), that I order one to test drive for a comparison against my Zeiss 85.

I'll be heading into the woods Friday for a scouting trip, and on a bear hunt with Cody shortly after. This should give me and my partners plenty of time behind the glass to get a good idea of the pro's and con's of each.

I'll report back and let everyone know how it's performing and holding up.

Who else is running the ATX?

Only in my dreams!! I think its great that you are taking two BIG spotters to test, while some think that one is too big and heavy! I'm looking forward to the follow up.

I have had the 95 for a few weeks and have a 65 on order. I am very happy and very impressed with this new spotter. The 30-70 on the 95 is great it does take a while to get used to having the focus and the zoom right next to each other but once you get used to it, it really is nice. I will be taking the 65 to BC in a few weeks and will get a lot of hours behind it and will report back.

I ordered the 85 for a few reasons;

The 95 doesn't fit in the Timberline pocket for chit:)

I wanted as close to exact as I could get in the comparison

and last but not least, I figured the idea of me changing out the objective would end up just like Sony NEX6 camera. When I bought the NEX camera, I had these great plans of swapping lenses to get the best photo, but in the end I just ended up using one.....I did however buy the others:)

This one will be interesting. Was already thinking about switching it up and this is just fuel for the fire

Would be interested to hear thoughts on how it compares to the 80 ATS.... Maybe next year if it makes sense.

In a couple weeks we'll have an 85 mm ATX, a 65 mm ATX and and 80 mm HD STS side by side on the mountain. We should be able to give some really great comparisons.

My opinion is that the biggest improvement is in FOV and distortion. In my testing, the 80HD was very close behind the ATX85 in resolution. the cost is in increased weight.

I look forward to hearing the differences Aron and Triple see.
