PM me Marine4Life. I guide for one of the NE Brooks Range outfitters. My outfitter I work for is very hands off of my operation and his camp is about 45 miles away. We have the legally required comms but that is about it for my guide camp. I provide all of my own equipment to my particular...
30/06ai I think is a great cartridge. 4 rounds down in most actions, smooth feeding, I can build a rifle in the super lite actions and I can get magnum performance (Kimber Montana, Barrett Fieldcraft). As much as I love the 30/06ai I prefer the 30 Golata more (280ai Nosler brass necked...
Switched to Peak freeze dried. Pork rinds, dried Parmesan Cheese.
I loose over a lb a day.
Clients pick what they want to eat but nothing over 1.5lbs a day. Normally I can keep them at 1 lb. I put a couple food caches to supplement throughout 25days guiding.
Ive been 100 percent on guided...
About 9oz a day at most.
With the change in bag rating I also cut my rating on my closed cell and NeoAir mattress. I get a net savings of about 2lbs
Not to mention the volume I save in the packageabilty of a smaller bag
Recurveman I guide in one of the most remote pieces of sheep country in the state of Alaska. We are the only commercial outfit allowed to sell sheep hunts to non residents as we are a sole use federal concession. Even in our area there is a chance you will see resident hunters flying or...
I’ve been hunting the Brooks for Dalls since 2007 and guiding sheep hunters in them as well. I’m on the North East side from 5 Aug-28 Aug every year. I use a high quality (Kuiu or Western Mtn) 30 degree bag and have never wished for more. The weight reduction in the decreased temp rating allows...
The pads are epoxied on. A good chop saw and high tooth saw blade does a great job with them.
You are the end user but it will void any warranty that may or may not be with the serial number. But if the rifle don’t fit you that is a bummer as well.
Straight off the Barrett website states no shortening of the stock is authorized (whatever that means) by the user.
It is a simple operation that I charge about $100-$125 depending on the pad of choice. AG composites is very secretive on these stocks they supply to Barrett. A year ago they...
You flying into Fairbanks? What is your hunt dates out of curiosity?
If you are staying a day over in Fairbanks I would suggest getting lodging soon. If you are a retiree from the USMC we have two military bases here in Fairbanks that have good lodging as well.
That was my guess as well. And if that is the case I’d probably stay down in the Alaska Range in the Denali Preserve federal land concession he has been outfitting in for 2020. Could potential be a lot harder in 2021 and future years for non residents to hunt in GMU 19c and 20a.
With the new...
To give advice I would need to know a few things. Who was outfitters prior to him getting area? What was their success rates? Horses or stock use for your hunt? All backpack hunt from airstrip? South or North Wrangells? Are you wanting advice for your potential physical limitations due to...
I hate to say it but GIVE UP THIS WASTE OF MONEY. I gave up on Wyoming sheep preference points back in 2000 for the exact numerical impossibility odds you are up against 20!yrs later and glad I did . Even back than it was not even a reason for me to consider. I didn’t get in on the ground level...
I would jump all over that deal. A lot of the tour companies originating around interior Alaska are hunter friendly. I know a guide that works for one of them in the winter season. I would certainly check up on that option,
Copy that. I start my sheep hunts the first of August anyway so I wont be much help to you. I figured if you had one of the mid July hunts in Canada we could work something out. Just FYI I don't know of ANY typical rental car company in Alaska that allows their vehicles to be used on the road...
