how is getting zones and having people choose a weapon season only benefiting me?
I like that I can hunt deer from Aug to December but I can be honest with myself and ask if it’s the best thing for the resource, is it best for hunters?
f&g did just do a big hey project on Hwy 21 so that was awesome to see. I trap and hunt wolves some and coyotes and bears. gave up instagram 3-4 years ago, and I’m about down to the hunt quietly podcast, couple books and Rokslide. haha I do love that tightend with a pop star analogy. I’ll be...
Maybe
guess what is most obvious during this conversation is that until we actually have mando hunter reporting we aren’t going to really know
we should all petition for that now I guess
Not even close
but im thinking @CorbLand has me motivated right now to get off my ass so I’m thinking of starting an email chain to f&g on a few issues that I’m motivated on so maybe if you are in the same camp as me and you have buddies that are as well I’d like to get a group organized to...
Valid questions no doubt.
just spit balling but I think current number would be fair. if what a lot of you say is true and hunter numbers are going down then it shouldn’t turn into the sawtooth fiasco
After thinking about this for a couple days I think everyone on this thread has valid points. opportunity would suck to lose for sure. but I think those of us that hunt hard in ID for deer every year knows deep down some changes need to occur With ALL the factors going on that we have mentioned...
I will concede that yes it’s a multi faceted issue with habitat being the number one.
but like @PathFinder said there has to be diminishing returns on opportunity when you have a place like Idaho that has seen staggering population growth affecting every issue that has been mentioned in this...
I cant get on board i guess its just easy to look at over hunting and tag quotas first since that seems like the easiest lever to pull, i get frustrated thinking about habitat cause I don’t see how one man has any influence over that, I’ve seen more and more subdivisions pop up on winer range...
I’m sorry to offend
i know most nr’s would like Idaho to continue being the Walmart of hunting for everyone but i think its reasonable to remove my own personal ambitions and asks the question if its worth our herds and outdoor experience to continue on this same path
I’ve gone every year I believe there was a year or 2 I didnt go when I drew more primo tags in Idaho
well I’m open to any suggestions if there is a way to increase supply, have a more enjoyable experience and have more opportunity seems like an out of balance equation, we are not getting any...
I suppose
I’ve always seen lots of bears, never a lion although I’m not that naive, shot a wolf first year in the area. still hear howls from time to time. yes predators certainly have their influences but we make up the biggest group of predators
I hunt with a small group of guys that between the three of us we spend close to 15-20 days in the field during general deer in Remote hard to access country and in 10 years or so we all report fewer deer and less mature deer sightings. I realize and account that we’ve had harsh winter in this...
Thermal Binos is what i meant
guy i know spent 10k on thermal imaging binos
they try and say its not a huge advantage lol I’m like then why spend 10k on a pair then.
This is something hunters should sign a petition on for F&G to address. It’s ridiculous it took 15+ years to legalize lighted...
According to fish and game after a call they say thermals are legal and do not fall under artficial light as long as it’s not attached to the weapon. no nightvision is allowed.
