The calculation is the same. It accounts for the same variables. The yardage dial setting just corrects to the conditions that your calibrated dial is for. It’s a setting to correspond to the turret on your scope.
Cool post Mike!
I like to see the step by step progress. I for one will never complain even if a project like this delays my stuff a bit. I can’t wait to see what kind of critters Keegan piles up with this stick! If only I had the hunting drive and toughness of that kid!
Heck ya! This thread is awesome! And a bit disturbing at the same time. I dont know if I should leave it be and try and forget or come back o check it 34 times a day!
I drew in the panhandle in 2014. It was a blast hunting them for the entire hour of season I hunted opening morning. I did however watch my bull for probably close to 50 or 60 hours in the weeks before the season. Took so many pictures of him live too.
Good luck on your hunt.
Pretty centralized location for lots of outdoor activities. 2 hours to northeast wa and great public land whitetail hunting and 2 hours or less to large elk herds to the west. Lots and lots of fishing too.
I don't post on rokslide a lot but I do spend a good amount of time lurking.
Wanted to share my experience here.
Ordered some game bags from the rokslide store and the wrong ones got shipped out. Instead of shipping them back and forth we decided to just meet when they were in Spokane.

I'm assuming your looking at shootersproshop?
If so I've shot literally hundreds of their blemished ammo and components. None looked very blemished to me. I have a box of accubonds that's been on the shelf for a while that look lots worse than anything I've ever received from sps
Another thing to keep in mind with the CDs type turrets that have a wind value etched on them is that wind value is only correct at that set of condition. Temp and pressure also affect wind correction values.
I killed a couple Whitetail's with the 143 eld x this fall and it performed great for me. This was from a 6.5-284 but would expect very similar from the cm
Are you looking for a scope with larger click values than 1/4 moa? The 1/10 mil clicks are roughly .333 moa per click so a slightly more coarse adjustment value. If your just looking at a 1/4 moa click scope it would be roughly .07 mil per click.
There are scopes out there with 1/2 moa...
I am pretty sure you have the mounts on backwards. The one with windage screws should be on the rear action area. Switch those around and you'll have much better clearance
I really like the performance I've seen this year of the 143 from my 6.5-284.
A doe at around 110 yards had a 1-1.5 inch hole through (behind ribs) deer went 40 yards. The next day I shot a buck at 310 and again at 250
With similar results. I'll keep using them
