I just got a pair of these in 12, they are very comfortable for my feet. Lighter than the Kenetrek Mtn Extreme 0g and seem to fit better. I wear my boot lacing rather loose all around and then tighten for downhill stretches.
I've shot nothing but Barnes TSX and TTSX for well over 20 years and I would say that half of my shots have ended up under the off side hide on elk and those have all been 150 yrds or less. The bullet expended all the energy inside the animal and hit the "trampoline" hide.
Any one of them will work. I'd say do what I do and take the rifle that hasn't killed anything yet, but maybe not in your case being new at this passion.
Jerry proved that the bullet will get there, but with 150 feet of drop. If you are planning on dialing for elevation would be limited by your scope and what you want velocity you want retained at the target.
The VA-5 clamping lever is spring loaded and can be repositioned to provide more clamping range.
The VA-5 weighs over a pound and the Tricer is around 4 oz. The Tricer is a little hard to get to clamp tight enough with a spotter and keep it from shifting when attaching your phone.
Don't know if it applies to the particular stock you have, but Savage rifles are very responsive to tuning by torque on the action screws. https://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2012/12/tuning-savage-actions-using-action-screw-torque-settings/
