    Longbow or recurve?

Always preferred my recurve but recently bought a takedown longbow and it is much more comfortable to shoot. I've been getting a really sharp pain in my shoulder when pulling back the recurve but not the longbow. Haven't shot the longbow enough to use it instead of the recurve this year, but I...

Talk me out of a NeoAir XTherm NXT

Love mine. Have used other ones in summer when I thought the xtherm was overkill and regretted it almost every time. It is a little noisy, but I just snore louder to make up for it.

    First Lite Ad

Odd view of mt goat hunting from someone who has done about 35 of them. I'd look for other species if I was as disinterested as your post suggests.

    2024 Bugle Report

Kind of disappointed nobody is posting some opening morning success stories. It's after 3pm on the west coast, plenty of time to have packed out and logged on to brag...

    Evacuation Insurance

Certainly something to consider as an Alaska resident...who just bought a zoleo..adulting sucks. Thanks for the article. Kind of eye opening how little I've consider these things. Now that I've started becoming slightly aware that I am not young anymore, as with all things, the responsibility...

    $4.25 Nalgene bottles

I looked up the listed address and it's some 2 bedroom trailer in the middle of nowhere so yeah, likely a scam.

    Juiced to the gills ?

This came out when I was still in high school. We used to have Atlas testing, but as soon as we saw this movie, there was a lot of talking from the coaches and admin about steroids and other drugs. Hey coach, you took us as a team to see that movie, why are you on us all of the sudden.

    Week in Juneau???? (updated 8/15)

Glad you had a good time. There was apparently lots of flooding there recently and I was curious if it affected your trip, but sounds like it did not. Would have been a bummer to make the trip and have it be disrupted by nature, but that is part of the adventure.

    October haul road caribou?

Plenty of deer hunting to do in October, but I don't think I'd want to hunt the haul road that month.

    Anchorage Outdoor Shooting Range

There is the rabbit creek gun range in Anchorage, there is another about 30 min out of town in Birchwood, and another off Maud road that is almost an hour away.

    Buoy 10?

The fishing has been really good lately from everyone I have talked to. Biggest issue is getting through the natives to get the clipped fish.

    My elk bowhunting soapbox.

I leave my quiver on, take my pack off when available, and try to keep my shot inside of 30. Shooting far is fun during practice, but I am not hunting to see how far away I can get.

Anyone call/bring in blacktail or black bear?

I've called in mule deer while elk hunting with a cow call, both unseen deer and ones I spotted and just wanted to see how they'd react.

Backpacking tent for me and 2 kids?

I am in the same boat as you and looking at the big agnes cooper spur. Bugs are an issue and if we are hiking in they are already going to be uncomfortable, I'd like them not having issues with bugs as well. I like the idea of the seek outside twilight with the floor but not sure how bug proof...

    Justice finally served in Utah

it is beyond difficult to be successful in getting the charges to actually stick, so becomes almost not worth the effort. I have seen cases with Facebook posts and video evidence from the defendant where they were 100% guilty, and admitting their guilt through braggadocios posts, not get...
