ZeroTech TRACE ADV 3-18×44 FFP Shoot2Hunt

I know that I’m in the minority, but I’ve been leaning towards the Monstrum scope caps. The rubber will split on them, but that is easily fixed/prevented by a few wraps of electrical tape. They are not as intuitive/efficient as the “both thumbs forward” on the Butler Creeks, but they are far more durable with the tape than the newest BC iteration. With just a little range time, the “caps away from the scope” opening becomes nearly as fast as the BCs.
They don’t stay closed particularly well

I’m enjoying the discussion on scope covers. Should we move it here and leave the guys alone who are only here for the S2H scope?

Which ones have you tested and where do they split/do you apply the electrical tape?

It is my current pick for scope caps (with the tape preventative) even given their flaws. Once the ZTs arrive, the ODs of both the ocular and objective bells can be measured to determine the correct sizes of Monstrums.

Some of the zero techs have the screw threads to put a leopold style/tenebrax cap on. I wonder if the s2h scope has these threads.

Pretty sure they don’t but that would of been awesome

Not sure there are any titanium reflex cans in NZ - and certainly not at 8oz. (If there are any ti OB/reflex, please let me know!)

Aluminium (Hardy, DPT, ASE, etc), yes. But Oceania Defence (ti cans) don't do OB/reflex, unfortunately. And the aluminium cans from the others are moderately heavy.

I have ODL cans, but am not overly impressed by either their noise reduction or the sound. Not super impressed by Hardy or DPT either, for the weight. Planning on experimenting with some of the Euro cans such as ASE, but, again, I think they're all aluminium (some with steel tubes).

The irony is that a few years ago, I tried talking Oceania into marketing their cans to the US, using Unknown Munitions as the distributor ... then UM went and started making ti cans that are superior to ODL's cans ...

I tried to get Oceania to print a few cans for me of my design but they wouldnt and said they had new cans coming out. I asked if they were planning to fill any if the niches I wanted and the answer was no. They said the intended to take some US companies to court over breach of patents or some such. My bet is they take ages and would have been better to take my money and print me some cans that may or may not have been effective.

In fairness otb or reflex cans arent all that. They are super inefficient in terms of weight. They add minimal volume require an inner and outer wall on the reflex portion meaning 2 walls for less volume.
I have had a ATEC Optima 45 and 45 Front side by side and theres so little difference its near impossible to tell the difference on my 223 and 22 Creed.

I would like to see some of the short titanium cans become available as our tech is falling behind.

They absolutely are Tenebraex compatible, the rear will even snap directly on instead of using a collar. It was touted as an initial design feature. But, no one can tell us what size yet. I’m sure Tenebraex can when the scope comes out.
