ZeroTech TRACE ADV 3-18×44 FFP Shoot2Hunt

They’ll be card telling consumers that it really isn’t advised to do it themselves, with a link to an unedited video of it…. And a QR code of how to do it, along with a step by step process if someone won’t listen- including using a proof scope first to proof the system, otherwise it’s a waste of time. People are going to break their scopes, their mounts, and their rifles.

People don’t listen, and I’m going to laugh.
Yeah I won’t be dropping my shit, but I’ve seen enough scopes lose zero just rattling around in a side by side to know that’s a pretty decent, unavoidable test in itself.

I'll have to buy one and throw it on the ground so we have an independent test.

^Look at what I highlighted in your quote.

Your instinct to wonder about genuine independent testing is fine - I don't think anyone has any problem with that.

What is a problem is the actual language you're using across multiple posts - it strikes accusatory, disingenuous, trollish, and absolutely ignorant of the actual testing protocol.

Nobody's "throwing" $h*t man, it's a drop test with actual protocols. There's nobody "independent" out there doing this. So quit mischaracterizing what's being done, and cease being a jackwagon about it, FFS.

It will be hard for someone on this preorder list to not have any bias with the scope considering how much they likely follow every word of the folks selling it on this site. Hence my question.

What if it fails the drop testing? Minds will crumble.

I don't understand why you're being grilled so hard about asking what you are asking

I plan to drop mine and will be unhappy if it doesnt do at least as well as the Tenmile I dropped

Because of the tone like they have a magic wand to make some other independent tester spring up.

Everybody outside of rokslide ridicules it for being campy and hostile about this topic, and it's easy to be better than that

I assume this is not anyone's first day on the internet, and we know how to read a comment for what the words say and not what "tone" we think is behind it

If he's trolling, fine. Getting worked up just feeds that endless cycle, so move on.
And if he's serious, it's an easy question to answer

Yep. Anyone that is around this stuff more than casually knows that most scopes are fragile. If the S2h scopes are in the same boat, it won’t take long for word to get out.

On another note, there are a lot of POS human beings on other forums that want like hell for this scope to fail, only for their own personal satisfaction. Pretty sad deal all around.

100% these will get hammered hunting season and most on here will definitely give honest opinions regardless who’s feelings it hurts.
It wont be hard to figure out the dumbshits that purposely break them.
I preordered two with all the confidence they will replace my NXS.
Honestly I’m worried about it,let’s says you get a lemon, there will probably be a few and that’s to be expected.
Send it in and get a replacement.
It’s a win win for all buyers and these guys have everything to loose.
No way im dropping mine on purpose, thats retarded.Im dam sure sure not throwing it.
Thats the testers job in developing these.

As I said, there will be no shortage of "independent testers."

Which other forums? I dont visit any of them except a local Az one. Is there really talk of people hoping this fails?

In the suppressor world, Jay from pew science is supposedly an unbiased source from whom an honest review would come. Companies send their cans to him to get graded against others and
...pay him, as do the consumers of those very same reports.

As an engineer with acoustics and measurement experience, I respect his abilities and his process -- but the lack of open source code and third-party audits give me pause.

Anyone who got in line to preorder is already predisposed to love it as they have sent their own money on it, it's just human nature.
I got in on the Minox ZP5 THLR pre-order a few months ago. As soon as the scope showed up I recognized that there was something wrong with the diopter and parallax adjustments, rendering the scope useless to me. It's been sent back to Minox for repair. Even though I should be predisposed to love it.........I'm currently NOT in love with it. Time will tell......after I get it back.

I'll be in the same boat if I can get an order in next month for a couple of these S2H THLR scopes. I expect them to arrive in perfect condition and fully functional, but if not I won't be in love with those either........until I am.

Who? Literally all the people who have attempted the drop eval are on this forum. There are no other people on any forum that are checking zero retention of scopes through impacts.

Trip down memory lane, from 2015...

I guess my point is there is a laid out format that form uses for testing. Maybe, have someone not directly associated to the project independently do that test? Which I'm sure will happen but that will take a purchaser to go out and do it on their own as I haven't gotten a response from anyone that a scope or two would be provided to anyone to independently perform the test.

I really don't think what I'm saying here is out of line.
I didn’t get in on the pre order, don’t have social media anymore so didn’t see it. I’d like to get on the next list. But I’m happy to give the drop test a go and report back.

I haven't logged into Rokslide in several months, until my post above, but checked out both sample scopes at the expo in SLC and thought I'd chime in here.

First, I have no dog in this fight and am not on the pre-order list.

I didn't see any obvious issues with either scope and in my opinion many people will be very happy with the image for the price, and the modified THLR reticle seems well executed. Eyebox and overall user friendliness seemed fine.

That stated, within the limitations of the expo center, I wouldn't call it an $1800 scope for image regarding brightness or resolution. That's not a knock as they seemed more than solid for $1k. And one would need to perform controlled field tests against known samples for more objective scoring.

If the current configuration fit my needs, I wouldn't hesitate to place an order for $1k.

I'm curious how the warranty data shakes out for the early batches, as some will likely get pummeled on purpose. It could obviously muddy the data.

I’m very interested in seeing where the limits of the new S2H scope truly are. Everything has a breaking point—maybe it’s a 48-inch drop, maybe 60 inches. Either way, someone will eventually make it fail or physically break. I just hope it can be documented properly so people have a general idea of its breaking point or loss of zero. I personally have been able to shift a maven 1.2 a few mil by crazy falls on sheep hunts. It may be a while until scopes can have an adult with pack weight fall and hit boulders on the wind turret . In my uneducated mind it’s one thing to drop a gun. It’s another to drop a gun with 260lbs on top of it.

What’s being missed to me is the bigger picture.. they’re trying to build a better mousetrap. Better reticle, better turrets, better zero retention. If they succeed, it has the potential to improve an entire industry. I am thankful for the people willing to push the limits. Relentless pursuit 👊

“The best or nothing.” Comes to mind. If this isn’t just right “they” seem destined to keep working at it.

My 2c.. Carry on folks
