It's always awesome when a new guy comes in and derails a good thread to pad their post count.
If a mod wants to delete this post to help get this thread back on track, I fully support it.
Of all the items shared on this thread, the first thing I ordered were the gummy bears. I definitely get a sweet tooth out hunting. Everything just seems to taste better after logging in the miles. Great thread by the way.Hey all,
As its the time podcasts are all doing their gear dumps and gear of the year I thought it could be interesting and informative if people left just 2-3 things they used in 2024 that were new to them and worked really well for them in their hunting scenarios. I mean I could go over many items I use and have used but thought it better to limit to just a couple new items for the prior season...
For me it was:
Darned Tough OTC Hunting Socks - why did I wait so long to try these? They are as good or better than advertised and are now my primary hunting socks. No seam, super comfy, not too warm, not too cold. I want to wear them every day!
EXO K4 pack (5000) - I've run a K2 3600 for many years and I was very impressed with the K4. The frame the most - it really distributes weight phenomenally well, I quite like their updated rifle holder, my only quible and its super minor is I wish the spotter side zip pocket was only on one side with an open top pocket on the other so I had the option of either style. Dang good pack and looking forward to years of its use.
Panditas Extreme Heat gummy bears - found these at a little store and they are my new favorite hunting snack and gummy bear. I used to be team Haribo Gummy Bear but these have as good or better chew and much better more realistic and more intense flavor. Add in just a minor touch of heat (they are not actually spicy) and dang these are epic good!
Look forward to seeing what others found were new kit that excited them.
Cheers!
I’m assuming from your post you are using the nighthawk with the Swaro 95? What eyepiece are you using on the Swaro?95mm Swaro objective (upgraded from 65mm) - combination of detail, contrast, 70x zoom and brightness for glassing stone sheep. Well worth the upgrade this past year. Was unreal watching our target ram at 4.5-5km away with ease.
Wiser Nighthawk Panhead - after having a vx5 insert strip (Sirui warrantied it thankfully) I decided to try out the wiser for a simpler lighter weight setup. It does the job very comparable to the VX5 at 3/4 less weight and bulk. Happy with the upgrade
Kifaru Slick 20deg Long Wide
Being 6’7” and 250lb this was welcomed and I’m extremely happy with the comfort it’s provided me. I finally feel like I’m not shoe horned into a regular long bag.
Yes nighthawk with an ATX 95I’m assuming from your post you are using the nighthawk with the Swaro 95? What eyepiece are you using on the Swaro?
