I don't believe there are actually two different political parties anymore. I think Democrats are doing exactly what the Republicans want them to. Republicans just act like they are trying to stop them to appease us. It's the only way I can understand how completely useless they are.

I try to avoid throwing around “unfair” and “rigged”, as IMHO they are often pretty subjective terms. But until ALL politicians cut spending, the taxes and/or inflation through money printing needed to cover the spending will be considered unfair by someone. I don’t know the current specifics, but less than 10 years ago a tax rate of 100% on all income over $1 million would raise only ~$600B. Even if you think that’s a “fair” share from the wealthy, where do you get the rest?

Tax rates can be sometimes confusing and not tell the whole story.

Example: Wyoming….. no income tax….. and yearly vehicle registration is $1,000 on a newer vehicle.

I can agree with that...everyone should pay their fair share, including corporations.
Oh sheesh, here we go….
You didnt answer the question; is the middle class and poor better off now or in the past admin? No need to answer, its obvious.

Corporations pass through their expenses…including higher taxes. So who pays for the higher tax rate? Yep, consumers
Even socialist France is now lowering their Corp tax rate. Why? When they raised their corp taxes years ago….many business left. So instead of getting more tax, they got zero.

Its pretty obvious to anyone paying attention. The current Dem regime is all Tax and Spend. They create a bad guy; Corporations and “the Rich” and create division for one despicable reason; To stay in power. The southern border debacle is just one example Of their extreme hypocrisy.

The Biden admin is trying to put in an add on tax for corps, a form of AMT;
The latest version of the Biden administration’s Build Back Better reconciliation package reintroduces a policy that has been tried before—and abandoned: a corporate alternative minimum tax (AMT). It would be a mistake to revive this complex and poorly designed policy. Instead, lawmakers should consider directly reducing corporate tax expenditures.

The full explanation is at the very good website; TaxFoundation.Org
HERE

A fair tax schedule? A flat tax doesnt do it. I’m in the higher tax brackets- heck, I would be paying A LOT less tax in a flat rate plan. It doesn’t make sense. Personally, Im OK with paying more tax, within reason But I’m notOK with the Democrats naking meout to be the bad guy for building a successful business. I provide jobs…but I’m the bad guy.

Im tired of this admin skewing the facts. Biden himself makes the claim that “ The Rich” don’t pay their fair share. Currently;
The top 1% pay apx 40% of the total income tax collected
The Top 10% pay 71% of total income tax

Its disingenuous to claim the rich arent paying their fair share

Personally, Im a registered Independent.

I think the only way to bring the power back to the people is to 1) take the power away from the Reps and Dems, and 2) have a legitimate media that fact checks these politicians and holds them accountable.

Republicans currently have a war against:

Minorites
"the poor"
Unions
Middle class

Feel free to prove me wrong.
Those are easy:

Minorities: Just because the left declares the right to be racists, doesn't make it true. Just because we value having a sovereign nation with secure borders, doesn't equate to having a war against "minorities". We have a war against "ILLEGAL entry". 2 million white people could be illegally entering the U.S. each year and we'd still have the same position on it, and the same problems from it. And did you see how well minorities were beginning to do under Trump? Well, all that has come crashing down.

The poor: Conservatives believe and know that it's not the government's job nor responsibility to take care of "the poor". It's the responsibility of the citizens through local communities. And that should never be mandated, legislated, or subsidized by the government. Conservatives actually give quite liberally to those causes if you study up on that.

Unions: Unions have one purpose "what's in it for me" for a select few individuals that they represent.

Middle Class: Just look around and it's real easy to see which side really does the most for the middle class, and not just them......but also giving opportunity to the lower class to move up into the middle class as well. Having policies that benefit the rich, the middle and the lower benefit "the nation as a whole". If you're being honest with yourself, you'll admit that the left speaks a good game and the media portrays that as well, but the reality of it is that none of the citizens, nor the well being of the nation, matter to the left. That is obvious.

You can't watch mainstream media for the truth of what's actually happening out there. You have to do your own research and analysis and study it. But, but, but.......the Dems said the right were all racists and white supremacists........oh ya, and domestic terrorists. SMH

I'm also a registered independent, because our current republicans have gone way too far left and away from the Constitution and doing what's best for the nation.....as a whole. They've all started legislating into the "what's in it for me" or "what's in it for a select group" instead of the nation as a whole.

Fuel prices are not controlled by the administration and the only way to "manipulate" the price would be to release the strategic reserve.

It doesn't take much intellectual honesty to realize that low fuel prices under the ex presidents administration had everything to do with less fuel being consumed (less flying, people laid off from their jobs, teleworking, etc.) You know, simple supply and demand.
This^ is another totally ridiculous comment from the lefty media talking heads that reflects a total misunderstanding.

Biden has openly declared war on our existing energy industry. The Democrats are on board with a time line of 10 years +/- all electric. This commentary alone is enough to kill investment in the entire fossil fuel industry. The energy companies are extremely capital intensive. Would you buy a house that was going to be torn down in 10 years?

That is exactly what the current Dems have done; killed investment in energy. what do you say we build another billion dollar pipeline…with $300m of our own money and borrow the rest from the bank?

Not a chance! The Biden admin shut down a multi billion dollar pipeline leaving companies, banks and even the country of Canada twisting in the wind. There are many more specific examples but the point is, No more investment and limiting supply with the swipe of a pen- of course energy prices will rise.

To say the president has no influence is wrong.

During the Trump admin he was notoriously friendly to the energy industry- arguably, too friendly IMO. It was Drill baby drill! The result was increased supply and a benefit to Americans especially the poor and middle class since energy is a disproportionate portion of their living expenses.

Why are the Dems pants on fire to go green? Votes of course, and to stay in power.

A reasonable long term transition is the common sense approach. For example, build out the grid and a stable plentiful supply of electric power, then electric cars will sell themselves.
Instead the Dems give the upper middle class and the rich thousands of $$ to buy an electric car…no matter that we cant support the additional demand. So Cal has a lot of electric cars. Search the comments by the socal Edison grid operators, its ugly. Their grid is stretched to the max. They ( and all of Ca) buys power from other states during peak times at as much as 6x from out of state providers.

Its only stupid governments that can afford this horrible policy Then come to us for more tax dollars to bail them out. BTW, the Biden admin is following the CA politics playbook to the letter…coming to your state soon.

The Dems and Reps have had decades to do something about a transition- they have done little. Building a spiderweb of small (safe) nuclear reactors and networking them with green power only makes sense But a small segment of the Dems won’t even entertain nuclear. Its a completely different industry now with less and recyclable waste.

Compare that to the mountains of batteries and solar waste we will have in 20 years…..

What a joke of a tax bill...

Income Tax Rates

The law retained the old structure of seven individual income tax brackets, but in most cases, it lowered the rates. The top rate fell from 39.6% to 37%, while the 33% bracket dropped to 32%, the 28% bracket to 24%, the 25% bracket to 22%, and the 15% bracket to 12%.10 The lowest bracket remained at 10%, and the 35% bracket was also unchanged. The income bands that the new rates applied to are lower, compared to 2018 brackets under current law, for the five highest brackets.

Intellectually honest?

Huh, lower corporate tax rate from 35% to 21% make that permanent.

Throw the peasants a bone, temporarily, and give those filthy SOB's a 0%-3% break..as if that means jack chit. Well, unless you're in the lowest income bracket, or the 35% then you can pound sand.

As to energy costs, funny you should mention that. Ever looked at the line items in your energy bill? What they report, and what they don't?

I see a line item on all my bills that show "low income funding fee"...have to make sure we point out on your energy bill how much we pay those filthy low income SOB's again.

You know what line item I don't see? The line that shows the amount of my power bill that pays executive salaries of the CEO, CFO, and the dividends paid to share holders.

Even more strange, what line item in that bill do those items come from?

I don't believe I'll listen to you lecture anyone about intellectual honesty today.
Lower is lower, whether you pooh pooh it or not.

Fuel prices were lower for the full duration of the Trump's presidency. The COVID pandemic only covered one of the 4 years (speaking of intellectual honesty).

To think the only way a president can influence fuel prices is via manipulation of the strategic reserve is uninformed.

Much of the increase in fuel price is supply chain/rebound related (like the inflation in other sectors we are experiencing), but not all of it.

Parties don’t really matter that much.

The last politician that gave a crap about making life better for the average American in any meaningful way got shot in the back of the head.

And anyone with that kind of money has a team of accountants to avoid paying taxes. . .

Capital gains is what effects most very wealthy people, but again it is easy to avoid a lot of that tax.

If we would just stay with what we have, but eliminate all the B.S. deductions, and put a minimum 22% on ALL income over 1,000,000 we would probably be fine. But we don't and the richest 40 families pay an average of like 8% . . . So less the the common working folks!

I laugh we people talk about corruption in other countries! You think it's a coincidence that our politicians are either Rich to begin with or become that way quite quickly??? Also a coincidence that the middle class carries the load in the tax scheme??? It's all a beautiful design if your sitting on top!
8% of a billion is a helluva lot more than ANY dollar amount a working stiff pays. May be a lower percentage of income, but as a dollar amount it's still a chunk. Why does it matter anyways? The govt just wastes every damn penny they get. You could confiscate all the wealth in this country and the govt would blow through it in a year.
