Your perfect elk rifle

My cousin has one of those, if I can remember I'll ask what load they worked up for it. It's a tack driver.

Thanks sneaky, I’d like to see that as I’m sure I’ll need to reload for it in the future. Found a shop near home where the manager shoots one and tries to keep ammo in stock so I bought a case of 200 grain Nosler Accubonds. Didn’t realize how easily something affects the accuracy of these light weight rifles. I’ve corrected my form and trigger pull and now get .75” 3 shot groups with the factory ammo. Smacked an antelope with it last weekend :)

Love hearing of people hunting with those pump guns I have one that was my grandpas. Hoping to take a deer with it one day, or even an elk. Have you taken animals with yours?
I took a cow last year with a family hand me down Rem 760 pump 30-06 with a Weaver K3 3x scope. Was a Michigan deer gun that made it to Arizona for elk. It's a good shooter in timber but not as choice for those open range western shots.

Just for fun because most of my friends don’t do much “gun talk.” If you could use one rifle to hunt elk with for the rest of your days, what would your setup look like
Caliber?
Rifle model?
Bullet type and weight?
Scope?
Weatherby 300 Magnum Mark V topped with a Leupold VX-3 3.5-10 x 50. Loves 180 grain Partitions. Rifle and set have treated me very well over last 20 years.

I have my perfect elk rifle. Rem 700 LH, 270. Lilja barrel, Jewell trigger, glass stock, Kahles 3x9 scope.

Under 7 lbs loaded. Accurate, and with 130 partitions or copper bullets, hammers elk at any range I will shoot them.

I have several and would agree if I had to vote perfect elk rifle it would be a Model 70 in .338WM. I have pretty much gone full .308 due to the rifles are great to carry and they kill just as well. My Kimber Montana in .308 has been my go to but this new Waypoint is pretty sweet! My Kimber 300WSM and 300WM's sit most of the time. Both under 7-lbs and shoot sub MOA. I need to take more dead elk with the rifle but a bear will have to do.

Hard to beat that caliber for bull elk.
It’s not necessary considering I’ve killed elk and have watched others kill elk cleanly with smaller/milder calibers. But, I can’t help the confidence I get from it. With the 210gr TTSX, it actually makes for a great deer caliber in a pinch. Shoots as flat as a 30-06 shooting 150gr loads.

Put the Spartan adapter on it and then buy their Spartan to arca adapter so you can use your tripod too
