Just for fun because most of my friends don’t do much “gun talk.” If you could use one rifle to hunt elk with for the rest of your days, what would your setup look like
Caliber?
Rifle model?
Bullet type and weight?
Scope?

I have a kimber subalpine.280 AI with Swarovski Z3 3-10x42, Talley LW rings. Factory 140 e-tips. It shoots below moa and just feels good shooting. I also have a similar set up kimber 7mm-08 that is also great, but just doesn’t feel as good to me. I actually shoot the .280 AI good free hand which is tough with light rifles.

My Rem.700 Stainless/Synthetic in .300 Win., with a Leupold Varix3 2.5X8 - 36. ,,,,and Handloaded 200grain Partitions.

Browning X-Bolt in .280 REM, Leupold VX-3i 4.5x14x40 CDS, Shooting Factory Federal Trophy Copper 140gr. She's ready for a Bull Elk in October here soon....Can't wait.

Hopefully it turns out to be my 300 Weatherby Weathermark. Wears a Burris E1 4.5-14x42 and working on the load.

Rifles Inc LW 70 with a few modifications. Mainly a slightly heavier #3 fluted barrel, extended mag box. It wears a scope level and a Huskemaw 3-12x in Talley rings and still comes in at 8.5lbs loaded and with the sling. The weight is in the glass, barrel, and action. The stock with recoil pad is 18oz.

Mine is in 300 win mag. I wanted a common round for my AK hunts in case my ammo doesn’t arrive the same time and place as I do.

New Winchester Model 70 Featherweight Stainless action with a 23” barrel twisted at 7” chambered in 7 SAUM. McMillan Featherweight stock. Zeiss V6 3-18x50 in Talley Lightweights with ZBR reticle. Hornady 175gr ELD-X. Cerakoted barrel and action.

Pretty much covers it for me. Good to as long of range as I’d ever care to shoot and with manageable recoil.

Post 64 Winchester model 70, 26 inch Douglas barrel fluted and muzzle braked by local artist. Rifles Inc Teflon coated, McMillian fiberglass stock. Chambered in 7 mag. Shoots everything from 115's to 175's, but my pet load is H4831 and 160 accubonds. Burris signature series posilock 3x9. She's a bit on the heavy side but shoots like a dream.

I'd say huntsman is on to something...custom action, 6.5prc (or saum), manners or McMillan, and some alpha glass would work.
