I shot 2 Antelope, 2 elk, and 2 deer across Montana and Wyoming this year with the farthest being 180 yards.

I have no use for long distance "hunting".

Spring Black Bear hunt in Idaho. 1702 yards for a cold bore kill.
Calm with a 2 mph wind recorded also from fog moving out between us and the bear.
DE LRKM in 338 Terminator sending a 300 gr Berger OTM that I HBN coat and clean the tips with a .027" wire drill. Expanded perfectly with an impact velocity of 1650 fps.

Time of flight was 2.26 seconds
impact energy was 1750 ft lbs
SD and Coriolis were employed.

Shot was and is practiced on targets year round and had been shooting my mile target under almost the exact conditions the week before the hunt. I knew it was good at the break of the trigger and watched the bullet trace all the way.

512 yards in a 15 mph cross wind on a prairie dog during a lunch break on our Wyoming antelope hunt with a 75g amax from my .223. Doe tag was filled at 425 yards with the same setup and the buck tag at the same distance with my .280AI and 168 Bergers.

Holy. Wow.

Yeah...I am like that guy but entirely different.

35 yards. Forky buck. Double lunged and dropped in 20 yards. Bonus is my 8 year old kid was watching on his very first hunt with me. Daddy points galore.

One shot, one kill.

I killed a 3x3 mule deer buck at 51yards on Jan 1 with my 8 year standing next to me on her first hunt with daddy

325 yards WY buck antelope. .300 WM shooting 165gr Hornady GMX. 65 and sunny. The only noteworthy part of the shot was that it was the first time (out of a dozen WY antelope kills) that I realized I lacked knowledge/tools in the wind-adjustment department. I'm guessing the wind was around ~35mph straight cross, but my Kentucky windage failed me by about a foot back on the animal. It was still DRT, but I will be investing in some type of wind measurement device for next year.

I'll join the "Short Range Club" :D

40 Yard broadside shot on my elk in the opening minutes of shooting light after hunting 10 days with the bow. 308 Win, shot off-hand, 165gr Nosler AB. Bullet lodged under the hide on the opposite side - he didn't go more than 50-60 yards before piling up.

I have a coyote and 2 whitetail with the bow since then - all from 15-25 yards. Almost notched a 3rd whitetail at 25-30 yards with my 6.5CM, but he walked... Season still open until 12/31 here with Muzzy or Bow.

She loves that 300 and shoots it extremely well. I can't think of anything that she has not put down with one shot. And I am a big .243 fan so it works for us.
