your favorite creedmoor

my next big hunt is going to be in Africa so I’m looking at rifles on the opposite end of the spectrum.
With the right projectiles, any of the Creedmoors will work for plains game.

If you're planning on DG, worth noting that Tikka offers the T3x in 9.3x62mm

That's an interesting thought. I could see them being a smash hit introduced in that order or I could also see them facing stiff existing competition in those categories and gone the way of the 30 TC/30 Creedmoor. Can only speculate now.
You're 100% right...but it was spawned by the PRS guys needing a 6.5 to play that game...initially anyway and it filled that hole the 260 was just so/so at filling. Case was a little long for the longer high BC bullet they wanted to use. They made their name and following there and then spawned the rest. Hard to say they did it wrong when they killed and are killing it still 😂

Built my son one for this year. He will be 9. He's shot a 223 for the past couple years and done really well but specifically built this to shoot long range. Did you go with a boyd's stock for him? I bit the bullet and put it in a MDT chassis so I could adjust it to him. The hardest part of the whole thing was finding something to fit him.
It is a boyds, cut down. I will soon have to start adding spacers as he is growing fast.

His rifle is a really cheap savage axis with a criterion prefit from northland shooters supply 1-7 twist, and then a boyds varmint stock.

But dang it can shoot. Consistently shooting under 1MOA all the way out to 1000yds.

I have another one built on a tikka action strictly for copper. Its a 20" preferred 1-6 twist in a stockys vg carbon stock. With scope it sits right at 7lbs.
It shoots the 77g PVA cayuga at 3275fps into tiny little groups as well.

The only Creedmoor I have currently is the 30 TC so I suppose by default that's my "favorite" but while I really like the cartridge I don't shoot it very often.

I've had a good 2 decade run with several 260's but once this current barrel is toast I'll finally be switching over to either a 25 or 6.5 CM, Not sure yet, I'm a fan of both calibers.

I have Hornady’s other brainchild (7 PRC) and my 6.5 for plains game. I may add a buffalo and will need to up my firepower for that. This is wildly off topic but I saw Christensen has a new rifle in 375 HH but I’m worried such a lightweight rifle is a uniquely miserable experience to shoot.

Having put together several 6.5 and 6MM Creedmoors I understand the attraction for small to midsize game and beyond.
For those of you that are fans of this case, what's your favorite one and why?
Haters pass on by.

6.5 Creedmoor all day long.

Main reason is variety of ammunition/reloading components. I can shoot anything from 90gr varmit bullets at 3400+ fps to 150grain plus very high b.c. bullets for target or hunting applications. And everything in between. Easy to find basically anywhere.

Also fits into NRL Hunter and PRS nicely if I choose to do so.

I can shoot 130gr bullets and it 's basically white noise/ not much real world difference compared to 115gr class bullets from a 6mm creed. Honestly if i was going to get a 6mm, it would probably be something along the lines of a GT or smaller. Something that would provide a larger delta from the 6.5 creed for recoil.

You can argue that the 25 creed has a ever so slight advantage as a target rifle, but again not enough for me to worry about. Quarter bores have cool factor...(I think from my teenage obsession with wanting a 25-06) but I wouldn't choose it over the 6.5

So yeah, its just got the versatility.

The 22 creed is the only other interesting one to me. But...I would just get a .223 really....

I like 6.5CM just because of barrel life, components availability. I currently have 2 barrels and love mass loading and shooting the beans out of them.

I’m always window shopping 22CM and 6CM barrels. But I’m content for now with 6.5.

I cant say that I like one over the other, I own 3 6.5s, one 6mm and one 22... I think they are all fun, I have killed more animals with the 6.5 but thats just because I have had it the longest. I plan to go full Rokslide this year and hunt with the 6mm and the 22.

22 Creedmoor, short, suppressed, for me.
Super Accurate. Little to no recoil. Makes spotting shots easy. Great selection of bullets with excellent ballistics & terminal performance. Good selection of factory ammo & custom loaded ammo. Peterson Brass, Can hand load if desired.

6CM, but thats because its what I have. 🤣
A good mate had a 6.5 and currently uses a custom 7mm Creedmoor but he's had to run some pretty high pressure loads to get the velocities he wants with heavy projectiles.
The 6mm has got me to that happy place with book loads and some pretty minimal recoil

I’m really in love with my 6mm but I also have a 6.5 that I also love. Personally I like the lighter faster version of the 6mm. It allows me to shoot a shorter barrel and still retain good speed. Sierra 107 tmks have been incredibly accurate for me.

I have a couple 6.5s and a 6. Of the two, I like the speed of the 6 better. I wish the 6.5 could push a 140 up around 2,900 fps. To me, that be about perfect.

22 and 6mm for sure. If I could only have one rifle cartridge to do everything with, prs, target, hunting the 6cm wouldn't leave me wanting. It's extremely versatile.

Seems like a fair amount of trouble to avoid 7mm-08 (which holds 6% more powder).
Plenty of ribbing has occurred from our group of mates, especially when theres good quality 7-08 and 7SAW brass available from the likes of Alpha Munitions

But the hot loaded 7CM does work well at longer ranges for hunting and PRS

It's such an easy wildcat I wouldn't hesitate to shoot one but without the boiler room the velocity goals with heavy bullets have to be reasonable. It's like my 30 TC, I don't have access to the high energy powders Hornady does so I accept heavy bullet velocities are going to be modest. Not going to step on the gas and try to turn it into something it isn't.
