Having put together several 6.5 and 6MM Creedmoors I understand the attraction for small to midsize game and beyond.
For those of you that are fans of this case, what's your favorite one and why?
Haters pass on by.

6mm for me. I have a 6.5 and just slapped together a 22cm. I know I'll love the 22cm but if I just had to have one, it's the 6 for the versatility. I was dyed in the wool of the 243 growing up deer hunting and have yet to find anywhere that it isn't extremely effective with the right ammo.

I just said last week to a guy...wHornady should've started with the 22 and ended with the 6. The rest of them need additional boiler room to be of any interest to me.

6.5 for me. It’s legal to hunt with everywhere, easy to find quality factory ammo and by far the most available of the creeds, and easy to load for.

I admittedly say this as a guy who is mulling a 22 creed…

I don't own one, and unless I start hunting bigger stuff than mule deer again, which isn't likely to be happening at my old age, I might not ever.

But if I were going to buy a new bolt action hunting rifle in 2026, I'd be buying it in 6.5 Creedmoor. To me, it is about a perfect ratio of felt recoil to downrange terminal thunp.

While I don't own a rifle chambered to any of the Creedmoor cartridges, I have shot a bunch of them, primarily in discount bargain bin bolt actions, like the Savage Axis, Mossberg Patriot, and so on. What I haven''t yet done is shot any 6.5 Creedmoor rifle that wasn't usefully accurate for hunting and accurate enough to make for a fun range toy.

6 creed for sure also never shot a 22 creed but I like what it offers on paper. Theres something about not being able to shoot a heavy for cal/ high BC bullet over, close to or right at 3000fps annoys me so the 6.5 and 25 are out for me.

Notwithstanding my Rokslide handle, I'm a huge fan of the 6.5 Creedmoor. I absolutely love the caliber. For me, it is a perfect blend of low recoil, exceptional terminal ballistics and accuracy. One would be hard pressed to find a caliber with greater ammunition selection on the open market.

Yes, getting a high BC bullet at 3000 fps is magic to me. 6mm is as big as you can go in a hunting length barrel and short action non-magnum/long action.

My 14" 2 creed runs like a 6.5 creed... we've seen what the little 22 cal bullets can do. With the internet, ammo availability isn't a concern to me.

22 creed has been nothing short of amazing. Its extremely lethal and inherently accurate. Recoil friendly for everyone.

My son routinely hits steel out to 1000, has gone to 1100. Taken coyotes off a tripod out to 500. Just dropped a hog at 630 last weekend. And every ground squirrel he can see with his eyes is screwed!

We have taken two deer, one around 100yds and my daughter last season took hers just under 300yds.

For our needs and expectations, I cant see any real reason to go bigger.

Currently shooting 6.5 creed. Once I shoot out the barrel I’ll spin 6 creed on. I hunt states with a 243 minimum otherwise 22 creed shooting 88 TMKs would be my jam

If all options had been available and plenty of factory ammo, I would likely have picked .25 to start with.

GT and ARC are more interesting for .22 and 6mm at this point.

As someone who doesn't reload, 6.5CM is my favorite. My 6CM is 18" and the muzzle velocity from factory ammo is a bit anemic for my tastes. Which is something I should have considered before putting a 6CM together.

Curious if you have a BC/velocity point you like/aim for?

As much BC as will fit/shoot with as little recoil as possible in a lightweight mountain rifle.

Right now that looks like 80-90gr .224s in an ARC, built on a Sako 90 XS. Roughly a $4k project unless/until I come across a used or heavily-discounted 90 XS donor.

Once I shoot through the brass and bullets on hand, my under-8# T3x 6.5 Creedmoor will likely see a GT barrel.

Built my son one for this year. He will be 9. He's shot a 223 for the past couple years and done really well but specifically built this to shoot long range. Did you go with a boyd's stock for him? I bit the bullet and put it in a MDT chassis so I could adjust it to him. The hardest part of the whole thing was finding something to fit him.

I have a 6.5 Creedmoor and it’s very accurate. I shot a 22 Creedmoor at a long range course and if I was in the market for a small caliber rifle I would get that without second thought. I personally shot it out to 1400 yards and saw someone else shoot a mile with it.

However my next big hunt is going to be in Africa so I’m looking at rifles on the opposite end of the spectrum. Maybe hornady will come out with a .375 Creedmoor.
