Hunting influences and the mentality a lot of people seem to have which is "I must fill every tag I have in my pocket" which might be 4 and the family has a total of 16 tags they all want to fill.

Game camera's.. A picture doesn't put an animal on the ground. Such a waste of time trying to get out to check them and all the worry about htem being stolen.. ugh

You know though you CAN go back in time.

I mean, i ran regular trail cams about 10 years ago before i grew tired of them and realized they had almost zero benefit. They certainly didn’t make me a better hunter. I grew to hate them when the light went off and i was like, “duh, just stop using them stupid” and so that’s what i did. I tell ya, haven’t once missed them. I sure do hate finding all your cell cams littering the woods though i tell ya that!

Went the same route with IG, FB, etc they are all gone and out of my life.

Give up yer Onx or whatever chaps yer behind. Be the change you want to see. I for one hunt for many many reasons with one being to get the hell away from modern society, tech, etc. I even leave my cell phone off and in my pack or whatever, emergency use only.

Going back in time to how hunting was when i was a boy with my ole man was just what i needed.

A gremlin from the past that has come back to say hello are two of those Uncle Mikes easy adjust nylon slings from the 1980’s made from 1” super smooth webbing that is so slick it can’t be kept on the shoulder. In 1984 the moment the receipt blew out the window I felt hosed. Two of them fell in my lap this year and what it took to cut them in tiny pieces, burn them in a little pile and mix the ashes with cat pee is time I’ll never get back. My vote for the worst product ever.

I'd agree on cellular trail cams. One of the fun discussion points of Fair Chase is that it's all pretty subjective person to person but I find that more often than not my views align with Boone & Crockett and here's their 2 cents on trail cams: https://www.boone-crockett.org/bc-position-statement-big-game-records-eligibility

Regarding all the youtubers and influencers out there, i've definitely seen a few that make me wanna puke in my mouth but there's also plenty of folks out there doing it right and spreading a good message so I'm happy that platform is there. Do i expect every one of my hunts to be like these guys' hunts? no. but they do reinforce the message that the only thing standing between you and your next public land success is not that guy sitting on the other ridge, it's how much you invest in it.
