That is nuts. Just picked up a 15" lodge from Scheels for $49.99 but I had a gift card. Some work with a sanding disc, palm sander and a new seasoning gave it an ultra smooth finish. Crazy that people will pay that.

The palm sander is a miracle worker for cast iron pans. Shines them up nice.

Lodges are nice but they need the rough edges taken down and the cooking surface isn't real smooth. 20-30 minutes will smooth them right out.

I inheirited multiple sizes, round ones and square ones and a pair of chicken pots. I think there are at least 20-25.

Necessary - yes. Worth $400? Not really.
