I burned all my points last year and had a pretty poor experience with an outfitter who I won't blast in an open forum. If you are planning on a hunt in this unit it's a tough hunt that needs weather. If you are going guided and want additional info send me a PM and you can make an informed decision prior to booking with anyone. Best of luck to anyone hunting Wyoming this year.

Hey Buzzy, I am so sorry to hear you had a crap experience. The years we put into this and it ending badly is horrible. I am one year off max points for elk, 51 has been on my radar. I so would love to chat with you.

Thanks

God, I’d love to be one off max again. I blew mine last year on 62. And I’d do it the same thing again if I had it to do over.

So, you would defiantly recommend 62? May I ask who you booked with?

Josh Martoglio. I hunted the second week of the season and he only had 2 other hunters in camp. All three of us killed bulls. Absolute GREAT guides, wranglers and cook. I noticed that he’s now gone to $10,000 for a 1x1 hunt which I guess is becoming the going price for a wilderness elk hunt. Ouch! But I would HIGHLY recommend him. PM me if you want more info.

10000 is well worth it for a good experience. I've been on several guided hunts and only once did I have an outfitter and guide that didn't do an exceptional job - but that one hunt was very expensive and was a terrible experience. The best outfitter I had was in Idaho chasing Cats, we didn't get one on that trip but it was one hell of a week on snowmachines following hounts.

Just name the outfitter. We all owe it to each other to post both good and bad outfitter reviews. Otherwise what’s the point of making a thread?
I sent you a PM. If anyone wants to know the outfitter I’ll share my experience in a private message.

Yeah, I dont get why people feel the need to protect the name of an outfitter that did not deliver on their service. No one holds back the name of any company when they have a product fail.

I think I may have interviewed this same guide for a 2023 hunt. Will you please message me the name?

Correction - $11K for a 1 on 1. He is well respected though. I haven't booked with him yet but he is great to talk to. Very up front about what you will see and get. The only issue I have with this hunt is you only really get 5 hunting days because it is 1 day in and 1 day out.
