I'm a can't beat em join em kinda guy. No sense in getting emotional over things you can't control.

As we both mentioned, moving away from family will be the toughest part. Not for me (my family is all out of state now as it is), but my wife. Aside from that, we'd probably be there in a couple years if the schools were better. We have been on and off looking for real estate in Wyoming, not so much to be our forever spot, but just to get our foot in the market there. It's tough! But I understand that to be the case lots of places, know it is here.
Better hope you don't need quality healthcare
That is not one of Wyomings selling points

This thread is pretty amusing as some who actually did what most are pontificating about. It ain't easy leaving family and moving somewhere you don't know another soul but your wife. Better put some pretty serious thought into whether or not your marriage can handle that, and if it's worth, if that's important to you. Is it doable? Yes of course. If you think you can scheme up some sort of idea to make it profitable and get residency have at I guess, but a quite a few post show some of you are way out of touch with reality.

It took a pandemic to make us realize we are borderline shut-ins. Wyoming will suit us just fine.

Then Wyoming isn't it look up their healthcare ranking one of the worst there is and extremely epensive for what little care they provide
On the off chance I get sick I'll, I dunno, just, like, take that into consideration if it happens, bruh.

Christ, I wonder how much shit I'd get if I said our backup plan was Patagonia?

My kids are pretty young still, but my understanding is we have pretty high ranked schools. Granted this is only looking at ones my kids will be going to. As far as State universities, UW is the cheapest in the nation. Going from MSU Bozeman to Laramie blew me away at the savings.

No I've read enough of your posts to know you were probably joking. I'm sure you'll make the move and make it work just fine. Some of the other guys apear to be posting from an emotional angle of I'll show them residents, I'll move there. Good luck making it with that attitude.
I don’t think there’s emotion, I think WY has way more to offer then residents let on and that some try to act like it’s not a great place when it is. Hunting is a bonus and obviously we all like to hunt here but WY has much more to offer then just hunting.

Was that due to in state tuition differences?

If you live in SE Wyoming, you are within short (by rural terms) driving distance some very good healthcare. Ft Collins has some great options while Denver has some world class options. No different than living in rural Kansas, Nebraska, etc.

To me the real difference living in Wyoming is just the day to day stuff. In general it is higher cost of living with less than ideal weather (for most) with a bit of desolate feel in 90% of the state. Most of us hunters are fine with that. Most of us hunters wives may not be...

There is a reason Wyoming has the lowest population. It sure isn't for everyone...

Many folks use steel with the wind ? Put steel on my roof about 5 years ago and wouldn't put another shingle on a house again . Seems like the new shingles don't last. I'll be dead and gone when the steel needs replaced

I'm very familiar with Wyoming my inlaws have lived /ranched in Wyoming for 8 generations
We visit every year eventually the ranch will be handed down to my wife &I at which time we will
Put it on the market whole or devide it and sell it off in lots . We have no interest in running a ranch
