Would you buy this scope?

Yes. I do not expect to have any issues.
The real decision is that there is a 6 month lead time once the go ahead is given, and the order is placed. So- it’s a catch22. If we give it enough to fully vet them to a level I would want- they won’t be here by hunting season. On the other hand, we can say yes to whatever order number in a week or two, and have a high confidence factor that the scopes are good.

I’m not sure what the answer is.

I’m pretty sure that they didn’t just make 3 of them, the parent company is down here with ties to NZ too, there are a few on here with the runs on the board to give them a fair workout within a couple of weeks, spread the load.

So first off, while it would be cool to get them this year, having it for hunting season is not a massive deal. I can kill just fine with what I have now. Overall getting it right is key in the end.

But if 3 is not enough to test and feel really good more have to be ordered to really test. Opening testing up to a pool from here to get more real world feedback seems reasonable though I also totally get an argument to vet who is getting one so you get more clear signal vs noise. If it was opened more broadly people would need to clearly be aware and agree this is a full price beta test and no bitching if there are some issues.

I am not going to pretend I would be a hard core tester and put several thousand of rounds through it, I might, but how much I can shoot varries from year to year. I could commit to having it rattle around in a side by side a bunch though and put 1k or so over a summer.

I would also be open to a deposit or even full price down at order time (which is kind of immaterial to me, I trust they will show up even if late).

I wont wine either though if you get a batch out to a good group of testers + S2H course and I dont get an option to order until next summer.

Anyway looks really cool, excited for when it really comes to market. Very much appreciate all the work to bring this thing a step closer to reality.

Fwiw, I think Swfa type is the absolute minimum quality I'd be interested in. Nx8/ Trijicon tenmile glass quality would be better.

I know Form said the eyebox is generous, so that's a huge plus to me as well.

Unless there is a specific aspect of testing that requires time (like a new type of glue or lens coating that could break down) I think I've seen enough to move on to real-world testing a few hundred+ samples.

A first production run (tongue in cheek please don't hurt me) "Goons and Zealots Edition" for people in this thread who know the goal, the use case, and the possible risks, could be a helpful tool both for proofing the design and for marketing the product.

A giant thread full of serious WKR shooters abusing the same scope without issue would be a great resource to pop up when someone googles "how to stop scope losing zero"

A non-refundable deposit sounds like a happy medium. I'm happy to float $100 to get on a list.

yep. what they've already took is good enough for me to buy one. If I like it as much as I'm sure I will I will buy more as available and my budget allows. With the talk of a smaller one in the future I may not put the farm up to go balls deep on the 3-18. The smaller one might be better for where I live. I would like to have a couple 3-18's though.

Perhaps the "scope company" is not America based.. If australian or Nordic based there may not have been a choice on Meters vs Yards....

I think $100 is very unlikely to develop complaint as long as the product is eventually delivered and price doesn’t spike. If it’s $500-1000 and gets delayed out a year or such folks will eventually start grumbling imho.

The purpose of the deposit in my mind is to gauge serious interest but at a value that doesn’t trigger impatience.

Hmm I’ve used several sets of them. Were you torquing to a minimum of 25in-lbs on the ring caps?

Yes, tried 25in# and 30in#. Cross bolts coming lose at torque. Used fix-it sticks and blue loktite. Never knew of paint pen back then.

Had issues with the hybrid lite rings on a 9# 300norma imp, and problems with their direct mount hybrid Tikka ring on a 8# 300wsm.

No, image quality was important. It is better than Tenmile/Credo, Maven RS1.2, NF SHV, and I would say NX8- but I don’t have one here to compare yet.
Again, this isn’t a $1,000 scope. This is a $2,000 scope with the two parties taking almost no profit to sell at $999.

Well dang. I have a couple sets- both have been used for drop evals, I haven’t seen an issue yet. But overall I would choose NF.
