I saw one last year northwest of there during archery elk season. It definitely wasn't a coyote and I really wasn't thrilled to find him there.

I doubt they are getting there on their own. Greenies are raising them in other parts of the country and releasing them. They have a place in the panhandle of Florida doing it. One got out and when the game wardens got there they shot it ASAP. Greenies cried to the governor and to the local papers but since it was non native and "dangerous" the wardens were backed up. The greenie raising them claimed they were endangered subspecies from the pacific NW and were being raised away from people so they could be released. Bet the house they are doing it all over the country.

Yes, we have wolves. I hope hunters do the right thing, or they'll get out of control like the other states that have them.

"I doubt", "I heard". Wolves, more than any other critter, seem to have the best stories. Almost everyone I have heard is secondhand at minimum. Funny stuff.

When they show a picture of a dead wolf killed in Colorado. I tend to believe it.

Funny = Fellas that "think" or "heard" people are secretly raising wolves and sneaking them into CO in the cover of night.

Obviously a wolf, or wolves, have migrated across the CO border. To say that it arrived in a black van is comical.

You are fooling yourself if you choose not to believe there is not organized effort to illegally establish wolves across the west. Your possibility right van maybe white

I don't think or have heard that people are raising wolves for release into the wild. I know they are because they'll tell you they are and the state of Florida killed one that escaped when the greenies called them to help capture it since it was raised wild and they weren't able to catch it. Whether they are being dumped in Colorado , Oregon , or wherever I don't know. Wolves may aslo be migrating there but there is a lot of Wyoming ranch land to cross to get there.

The hunter has not been charged, "pending further identification of the animal"?!!! A bio from Colorado and a bio from Alaska looked at it and weren't sure so now a DNA test is pending before they can say definitively it's a wolf and file charges?!!! The hunter himself figured it out and brought it in, yet they are STILL contemplating charges?!!!

Madness.....

It may be that the genetic testing is being done to confirm that the animal is indeed wild and of the same genetic background as the WY wolves, for instance. And not a wolf that "escaped" from a breeders kennel..
