Headed out the door for a quick bivy overnighter; got a peak I wanted to bag and figured I'd just spend the night :)

19 miles (4600') got the peak bagged and then bivy'd the night below the peak; bivying is over romanticized- it's great when the stars are out shining all night and the coyotes are howling; not so great when it starts raining at 0300 and doesn't let up with your postage stamp tarp :D

Up at 0315, hiking at 0515.
A buddy from the unit I used to work on drew a sheep tag for an area I know well, and my oldest son knows it inside and out. So we took him on his first scouting mission. Gained under 1000vert and descended just over 4000vert in 8.5mi.
Weather until 1100 was the absolute shits. No sheep spotted, foggy a better part of the day, but a good day for our buddy getting the lay of the land and listening to us tell him about rams we see in the area when we’re looking for mulies.

Yesterday was one of those days where every step is a battle and everything felt heavy, but I'd been eating junk food with a couple 10 or 12 hour work days. So I'm glad I was back to normal today.
