Yeah... 4600-3700=900 cu difference. He was wanting a dt3, doing comparison and letting him know there is little difference between the 2 packs.

How does the Exo compare to the t3? That was one of my runner ups...
Similar but better IMO. Very similar feel and ride. But with the EXO, you don't have the tiny top opening and you have the ability to sandwhich meat, with load sling.

I just learned that the 3 has a build in frame, so if you needed to pack meat between the pack and the frame is a no-go. This is what I think limits that pack. Being able to utilize a space between frame and bag, compress strap together and carry on is a nice feature. Am I correct on this? I'm new to the pack game and looking to get one. Thanks

That's what I found so attractive for the SG sky bags. Can be a extended trip huge pack or converted down to a 3500 or 4000 cubic inch bag for shorter trips and very light.

So da Rambler ehh!!! Will check it out. So compared to a KUIU (assuming you could actually get one, and not back ordered) Icon pro 1850/5200 what's your take on these for the price. Thanks for all the info guys...you are helping a lot

And let the bashing begin....

Not sure on the new pro packs. I know kuiu has had problems in the past with their previous icon frames. I like the idea and layout of the bag but it needs to be proven before I buy one.

The Icon Pro is a decent pack for the money. Is it a Kifaru? NO WAY. But, if I was looking for a pack in that price range, I would not hesitate to buy an Icon Pro. I have not been a fan of KUIU packs in the past, but IMO, they got it right with the Icon Pro.

I hear ya! I don't feel it's bashing at all as long as it's an honest opinion by a veteran pack user who has used the best products. Kifaru seems to focus on packs. They specialize in packs and pack accessories and how to make it easier on the hunter, or who ever is using the product. KUIU appears to be all over the place. Clothes, shoes, socks, packs and knifes. Yes, they have some great stuff, but availability is getting old. I too believe that Jason is trying extremely hard to constantly improve his gear, and that he is doing. But man, just get me my pants already!!! Geez!! Ha! I don't know squat about packs and learning so much from you guys and the Internet. Kifaru hands down appears to be the king, but with that title, your gonna pay. But it also appears when you need to pack out 100lbs or more, you won't have bruised hips. For the price and my use for packs as of now will be 1850 icon pro, unless I score a used one here in the same range. I definitely have time since KUIU has really no idea when new stuff or packs will be dilivered. Some say mid March. That would be great. Thanks everyone who freely shared their experience with us.

Ran across this old thread and find it pretty amazing how since it was written three options were introduced (Woodsman, Tarryall, Tahr).

Pretty good response to customer feedback IMO! Thanks Kifaru!

I really like the fact that Kifaru makes their bags compress down so easily. Same with SG. I have the Highcamp 7000 and if I only need to take 3500 ci of gear then its easy to set that up with the way my custom HC 7000 straps work. =) I will always choose a larger bag and just strap it down if I don't need all the room rather than buying a smaller bag that Id have a hard time adding more gear to the outside of the bag.

"better to have it and not need, then need it and not have it!" More versatility out of a larger bag then you'll ever get out of the smaller ones. Just something to think about.

My 13 year old son ran the Tahr last year on a pack in Wilderness hunt. Loaded it down with his gear for a week and it was awesome. Brought his gear and an elk on the way out with it :)
