Why has shipping become so frustrating.

I know we are in a bit of a unique situation up in Alaska, but starting about a year ago anything that shipped USPS ground advantage takes 3+ weeks to get here. Bad before... worse now.

I can't say that I have seen anything shipped 2 day air (fe3dex or UPS) actually arrive in 2 days... usually around 4.

Really the only timely and reliable shipping we have is with Amazon when they use their own delivery system.

As mentioned above, it might be due to wokeness, but I suspect the problem is a bit more nuanced than that.

Our postmaster says because ground advantage gets loaded on a barge in Seattle. I ask for Priority any time I can but sometimes that's a no-go. We are remote so we expect delays. When the weather is bad the planes don't fly. Amazon comes here via mail or occasionally UPS, which I read recently is in the process of 30K job cuts.

Yes, shipping is a train wreck.

When using the ups/fedex air delivery services every package is routed through a HUB. If that hub is affected by weather (FedEx Memphis hub and Louisville UPS was), then it messes up the entire system. Sometimes they switch hubs or reroute via ground services. That leads to more lost/diverted packages.

We didn’t ship anything last week because there was a 0% chance anything would get delivered to our customers.

Deliveries should be back to normal next week for 99% of the country.

The high prices of shipping always piss me off too! Amazon can get your package to you the same day for free and the other carriers want an excessive amount of money for shipping.
Just went through this. Bought a trailer fender for a dual axle. Total price for fender and 3-day shipped Fed-Ex to my door $160.00...My fault I measured the fender wrong and wanted to return it. Standard ground shipping Fed-Ex to return it...$470. WTF

I ordered a lower receiver that shipped on January 27th. 2-day FedEx shipping with scheduled delivery on January 29th. It has been delayed and the last scan was at the FedEx hub in Indiana the 27th! Ridiculous! Guess I'll just forget about it and it'll be a surprise whenever it gets here.

Shipping flat out sucks. Winter, spring, summer, fall. Currently waiting on an item shipped from TN, made it to Pittsburgh area (where I live) and is now in ALABAMA. Another item shipped form Scranton PA went to State College (3 hour drive from me) then to CALIFORNIA. Eventually making it to me. Two different shipping services.

We all feel your pain.
I walked up to the post office counter in my town the other day with two envelopes. I needed to send one by certified mail. A regular business envelope with three regular pieces of paper in it. They put it on the scale because it needed to be weighed to go certified. Scale read zero. Five minutes later we had to move to a different counter because they couldn’t fix the scale. Ten minutes after that I paid $6 to mail this envelope with a tracking number. I’m afraid to try and follow the tracking…..
Then I handed them the second envelope with a stamp on it. They asked if it needed to go certified as well. I pointed at the address and said I hope not, it’s just going to a PO Box right there behind the counter. They replied that I shouldn’t be so confident.
The next day I drove a four hour round trip to pick up a purchase to avoid $200+ shipping charge and a 7+ day wait.

Whenever I have ordered something firearm related it gets delayed. The tin foil hat part of my brain think there’s some kind of screening or something going on

Late to this thread, but I would order and have it shipped by USPS. You know, the "Neither rain nor sleet nor snow nor even lazy employees will prevent the completion of their appointed rounds...." or something like that.

usps has been legislated into ineffectiveness by our friends in congress. The BS that's been forced on them that mandates ridiculous handicaps that no business woudl accept, huge amounts of mandatory overtime due to ridiculous employee caps and other nonsense makes it impossible for them to succeed. You guys fed up with the post office need to point the finger at your congressional representatives, not at the post office.

I deal with shipping stuff for work every day. None of these companies are fun to deal with, none of them are perfect, and they all go through cycles of just screwing stuff up. Pick your poison, pinch your nose, and take it--you're going to get the wrong end of it at some point but dont fool yourself into thinking any of these outfits are so much better than the others.

Ever since wokeness overtook America everything has been dumbed down and standards lowered.
Seriously. Now it's all quotas and virtue signaling. Gone are the days when FedEx employed ONLY the most talented among us. Shoot, I remember when I was a kid and I told my mom I wanted to be a delivery driver and she teared up with pride. You should have seen the look of disappointment on her face when I came home with my SAT scores and had only gotten a 1550. We looked at each other and we both knew that I'd never make the cut. My backup career at NASA turned out ok I guess, but man what a life I could have had.

I’ve used FedEx freight for 15 years for my business. They went from decent to meh to total garbage. Meanwhile USPS is akin to the South Africa postal service. On top of that the order fulfillment end of things has totally gone to crap. I’m going to stop my rant here before I start using bad words. 🤣
