Congrats everyone looks like it was a decent season, we didn’t see the moose we normally see at our camp but we managed to fill our 4 tags.

How far out could I go with a .308 with a 20in barrel for moose? Would it be good enough for say 250-300 yards at most?
Any recommendation on ammo?No problem with those ranges.

Not really. Mild calibers like the .308 are pretty un-fussy and right in the sweet spot of bullet design. MV is fast enough for expansion and slow enough not to explode. The majority of general purpose 165 or 180 soft points will do the job.
And to sort of stay on topic. Here’s my 2022 bull
~18 yds from the muzzle with a 30-06. I think the last six moose have been under 100 yds, but this one might have been the closest yet.
We squeaked one more in for 2022. My wife had a local antlerless tag. It was -5 that morning and the 7mo old was sleeping in the pickup so decided not to drag everyone out for a family pic. Consider ourselves extremely lucky to knock down a few animals in 2022 with so much happening in our lives.
Sorry if I burned anyone’s top secret hot spot with these pics!

Shooting a moose 10 minutes from home, having the kids with, and the easy 50 yard sled pack were all pretty awesome. But being able to just hang it in my garage and not have to rush or worry about it for a week was REALLY awesome!Nothing better than a backyard moose!
